LG G3 Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Complete Specs, Key Features and Innovations
LG G2 became a 2013 TechPinas Badge of Excellence Awardee on the merit of its re-imagined design identity, great display quality, innovative hardware and software features including Rear Key and Knock On, top-notch innards, and decent imaging capabilities highlighted by optical image stabilization. And from the looks it, the 2014 follow-up to the Korean company's flagship line of smartphones will again be a winner.
“The smartest innovation in a fast evolving smartphone market is creating harmony between advanced technology and a simplified user experience. LG G3 is the result of our effort to actualize that idea into a tangible product -- LG’s most advanced technology combined with a simplified user experience designed to make smartphone usage simpler, yet smarter," shared Mr. Sung Woo Nam, LG Electronics Philippines' Managing Director.
He added, "The high resolution display on the G3 also required LG engineers to pair it with battery technology that was just as innovative. LG equipped the G3 with a 3,000mAh removable battery and advanced optimization technologies to further maximize battery efficiency and lifespan. This way, the battery can keep up with the Quad HD display’s ultra-high performance without losing steam in the middle of the day."
With a very high pixel density of 538 ppi, LG G3’s Quad HD display aims to set new viewing standards, producing images that are sharper and clearer than traditional smartphone displays. At 5.5 inches, LG G3 boasts a screen ratio of 76.4 percent with thin bezels all around to maximize its eye-candy display.
LG G3 sports a new Floating Arc design language with its ergonomic arch and slim side profile, which should provide a comfortable grip for everyday one-handed use. LG’s trademark and well-received Rear Key - present on LG G2, LG G Pro 2, and LG G2 Mini - is still making an appearance with LG G3, donning a newly-designed power key and volume button polished with more premium materials and metallic finish.
Aside from refining the sophisticated technical features lined in a singular layout located at the rear, G3’s stylish skin with brushed-metal-loook and matte finish keeps the phone looking clean, elegant, and fingerprint-free.
Aside from the display, LG G3 sports an advanced 13 MegaPixel OIS+ camera, designed by the company to quickly and easily capture life’s simple moments. With LG’s innovative world’s first Laser Auto Focus technology for smartphones, the 2014 flagship can capture the best and most vivid moments -- even in low light conditions by measuring the distance between the subject and the camera using a laser beam! And combined with the proven and popular OIS+ technology first seen in the G Pro 2, the LG G3 is made to impress discerning shutterbugs.
Mr. Nam shared, "LG also simplified the actual process of taking photos. Rather than having to focus on the subject in preview mode and then pressing the shutter button, with the G3, tapping the subject to focus will simultaneously also trigger the shutter. What’s more, LG G3's 2.1 MegaPixel front camera incorporates several new enhancements such as a larger image sensor and larger aperture for more light throughput and better-looking selfies. A unique twist has been added to the standard timed selfie mode by incorporating gesture control. When ready to shoot, one can simply clench his hand into a fist and the G3 will recognize the gesture and begin the automatic three-second countdown. It couldn't get any simpler than that."
As for video, LG G3 offers superior sound quality with instinctive microphones that measure the environment to identify the optimal audio level for the clearest recording. The built-in 1W speaker with Boost AMP also enables users to enjoy videos and music accompanied by richer sounds and clearer tones.
Software-wise, LG adopted a minimalistic user interface design with flat graphics on the LG G3 to complement the new external look. The circular motif of the graphic assets in the new UI was derived from the shape and concept of LG’s logo, reflecting its unique visual style and identity.
In addition to the advanced core technologies, LG took its ‘Learning from You’ approach to a higher level with new smarter UX features to offer G3 users a unique experience unlike any previous LG smartphone including:
LG G2 runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system skinned by the company's very own UX interface with the industry-leading Quad Core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8975AC Snapdragon 801 chipset. To complement this SoC, LG is releasing two variants of LG G3: One with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM and another with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of ROM -- both with microSD card slot for expanding the storage space.
LG G3 G3 will be offered in five vibrant colors, namely, Shine Gold, Moon Violet, Metallic Black, Silk White, and Burgundy Red. As yet, we are still awaiting word from the Korean Giant on the smartphone's official release date and pricing details in the Philippines -- but I'm expecting the company to launch the device here within June of 2014 with price tag of around Php 32,000 to Php 33,000 for the 16GB Variant and Php 35,000 to Php 36,000 for the 32 GB version.
Update as of July 1, 2014: LG G3 has just been officially launched in the Philippines via an exclusive event held at the Enderun Tent in Taguig City. The 16 GB officially sells for Php 29,990 while the 32 GB version goes for Php 33,990.
LG has also announced the newest smartphone companions for the LG G3 including the QuickCircle Case available in five colors, the premium LG Tone Infinim wireless headset powered by the Harman/Kardon, and a compact and foldable wireless charger.

Listening to the requests of its fans across the globe, LG made the battery of LG G3 removable, which wasn't the case on last year's flagship, LG G2.

- Smart Keyboard - An adaptive technology that reduces input errors by up to 75 percent by tracking and analyzing typing habits and intuitively “knowing” what word the user intended to type.
- Smart Notice - Like a personal assistant, Smart Notice provides suggestions and recommendations based on user behavior, phone usage patterns and location to offer user information when it’s needed the most.
- Smart Security - LG G3 offers a number of enhanced security features such as the Knock Code which enables users to wake and unlock their device at the same time just by “knocking;” the Content Lock which keeps personal files safe and hidden from view when sharing the G3 with others; and the Kill Switch which gives the owners the ability to disable their phones remotely in case of theft.
