Starmobile Sky Price Php 3,890, Full Specs, Features : Most Affordable Quad Core KitKat Smartphone from Starmobile
Hot on the heels of its very successful Starmobile Quest and Starmobile Roar midrange releases, Happy Man Philippines - maker of Starmobile smartphones and tablets - launched an even more pocket-friendly and feature-packed entry-level handset earlier this week.
Donning an SRP of only Php 3,890 and now available nationwide, 4-inch Starmobile Sky is currently the most affordable Quad Core Android smartphone by the local electronics giant. Needless to say, its price and processor alone should be enough to make anyone consider purchasing it without ado -- but actually, those are just two of the many, many amazing qualities of this landmark release.
Apart from running Android 4.4 KitKat with its Quad Core 1.3 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali-400MP based MediaTek MT6582 chipset, which should be good enough to run rather specs-intensive games smoothly, Sky is also the first handset from the company to come with several innovative touch features. There's App Gesture that lets you launch applications simply by drawing a letter or a gesture on the touchscreen even while the display is turned off. Also, you can swipe two or three fingers on a blank area of your home screen to open apps or use a functionality. And finally, my favorite, there's Double Tap to Wake and Sleep feature similar to that of recent LG smartphones and the Sony Xperia Z2.
On top of all that, Starmobile Sky also comes replete with an 8 MegaPixel main camera with BSI sensor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage that can be beefed up using the microSD card slot, Dual SIM Dual 3G Standby capability, 3G HSPA+ support, pre-installed Battery Saver app, Call and Text Filter control, and a 1,600 mAh Li-Ion battery pack delivering up to 200 hours of standby and 5.5 hours of talk time. Inside the package, apart from the usual content, you will also get a free phone case, screen protector, and an 8 GB microSD card. Yes, Starmobile gives you all that for just Php 3,890; Talk about sulit!
TP Friends, yesterday, I visited the Starmobile Headquarters and I got the chance to interview Mr. Elijah Mendoza, Happy Man Philippines' Product Manager for Starmobile smartphones. In our conversation, he gave me a quick rundown and demo of Starmobile Sky's key features and capabilities, and and even unboxed the handset. I got it all on video so stay tuned for that! In the meantime, you might want to familiarize yourself with Starmobile Sky's technical specifications.
Update as of July 3, 2014: As promised, the video of my interview with Mr. Elijah Mendoza is now live on Youtube. If you're thinking about purchasing Starmobile Sky and you want to be familiar with all the main selling points and capabilities of the phone, I'd really recommend that you watch the clip from start to finish. It's very informative.
