Starmobile Up Price Php 4,990, Specs, Exclusive Unboxing and Full Demo of Touch Gesture Features
Ever since MyPhone had a game-changing midrange winner in MyPhone Agua Rio which sells for just Php 4,999, its main rivals in the local handset game have been targeting that sweet price point and doing their best to give consumers the best possible device that combines outstanding features and a sub-Php 5,000 SRP.
Last week, I visited Happy Man Philippines' headquarters and I got to interview Mr. Elijah Mendoza, the company's Product Marketing Manager for Starmobile smartphones and tablets. He gave an exclusive unboxing and features demonstration of their four new midrange smartphones, including Starmobile Up, which is now getting a solid following online and is clearly poised to be another best-seller for the Pinoy electronics brand.
Priced only Php 4,990, Starmobile Up combines powerful innards and innovative touch gesture features in one visually appealing package.
Sporting a 5-inch FWVGA display, an 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash and BSI sensor and a 2 MP FF front cam also with backside illuminated lens for enhanced low-light performance, the smartphone runs Android 4.4 KitKat right out of the box with its Quad Core 1.3 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 based MediaTek MT6582M SoC, efficiently handles multitasking with 1 GB of RAM, and has 4 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot. Supporting USB On-The-Go and having Dual SIM Dual 3G Standby capability, Up can connect you to the internet both via WiFi and 3G HSPA+ mobile data.
For me, however, what makes this release totally exciting and worthy of being called "Starmobile's Best Value Large Screen Phone" are its amazing slew of touch gesture features on top of all the raw specifications. For instance, you can use multipoint gestures to execute commands on the device and you can double tap on a blank area on the homescreen to put the phone asleep and double tap on the locked display to wake it up. To see all of phone's unique capabilities - including Call and Text Filtering and Easy Launcher Selection - in action, kindly watch my exclusive interview with Mr. Elijah Mendoza:
Starmobile Up is now available at all Starmobile Concept Store, Kiosks, and partner retailers across the country. It's out in two colors - Black and White - and again, you can get it for just Php 4,990. If you ask me, for that amount, it's already a steal.
