O+ Grande Price Php 5,995, Specs, Antutu Benchmark Score, Unboxing, Accessories Check
Yesterday afternoon, TP Writer Fellow Nico Aguila asked me on Twitter if the freshly released O+ Grande is worthy of our recommendation. Let me answer his question through this post.
Nico, O+ Grande - which costs only Php 5,995 - gives you features that you'd previously find only on handsets that cost more than Php 10,000 like Samsung's Galaxy Mega releases. And if only for that, I'd gladly recommend it to anyone who's looking for an affordable Quad Core smartphone with a display that's large and clear enough for enjoying content -- especially movies and videos.
Since I've mentioned 'features', let's talk about specs.
O+ Grande sports a massive 6-inch HD IPS display that - according to the American company - was specifically designed to deliver a great movie viewing experience. (With such large display, the Grande is - needless to say - already a full-fledged phablet or a smartphone-tablet hybrid.) At the back, you'll find the phone's 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash - that takes very decent shots - complemented by a non-BSI 2MP front cam for selfies.
Is O+ Grande the right handset for you? If you're on the look out for an affordable device that combines the benefits of a very large screen akin to that of a tablet with the portability of a smartphone, the O+ Grande is ideal for you.
For me - though - more than the massive display, O+ Grande's no-nonsense design, stellar build, large battery, powerful processor, and set of unique O+ software innovations like Air Shuffle and Air Share are what makes it one of the most 'sulit' smartphones the US-based company has released in the Philippines to date. I mean, Nico, I still can't believe it only costs Php 5,995.

Under the hood, O+ Grande runs default Android 4.4.2 KitKat - incorporating O+ customized icons and innovations like O+ Air Shuffle and Air Share - with a 1.3 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 and Mali 400 GPU based MediaTek MT6582 chipset. The device handles multitasking with 1 GB of RAM and has 4 GB of ROM that you can beef up using Grande's microSD card slot. All these internal specs give O+ Grande a good Antutu Benchmark Score of 17,354, which you'd feel in the smooth touch response, screen transitions, and gaming performance of the device.
O+ Grande's packaging is similar to that of previous flagship releases by the American company, including O+ 8.12, 8.15, and 8.16.
O+ generously included a screen protector as well as a free 4GB SanDisk microSD card in the package.
The travel charger has folding flat prongs -- making it less likely to scratch your other gadgets when placed alongside them inside your bag.

All O+ smartphones come with 1 year parts and service warranty. And should your handset require after-sales service, you can just give O+ a ring and request for home pick-up and delivery service for just an additional Php 50; It's a value-added service that's perfect for busy individuals who don't want to be bothered bringing their devices to an authorized service center.
The phablet has a sizable 2,800 mAh battery pack, which - I find - delivers around 12 hours of uptime with mixed usage, including 3 hours of web browsing, checking and updating Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram from time to time, taking around 20 photos, listening to around music for around an hour, making a few short calls, and sending text messages.
O+ Grande is made for enjoying HD video content so you'd really need additional storage on top of the 1.68 GB internal storage space that's available to users.
