OPPO F1 Plus Philippines Price, Specs, Actual Unit Photos, Sample Selfie Shots
Last April 16, 2016, via an exclusive media event held at Shangri-La Hotel at The Fort in BGC, Chinese electronics company OPPO officially launched its latest selfie-centric Android phablet in the Philippines.
The new OPPO F1 Plus is crafted specifically for consumers who are looking for a high-end smartphone with top-notch design and construction, great internal hardware, brilliant and large display, and - of course - amazing front-facing camera for snapping self-portraits that are ready for sharing on social networking sites.
Based on its name alone, it's easy to assume that the OPPO F1 Plus is but a bigger version of the popular 5-inch OPPO F1 Selfie Expert. But actually, the new release is a lot more than that. The Plus version is not just larger but is also superior in practically all departments.
When I first held the phablet at the press briefing, I was immediately impressed with its stunning aesthetics and vibrant display.
OPPO F1 Plus is equipped with a massive 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen that look bright and vibrant regardless of the viewing angle. Since it's not LED-backlit, this display also made it possible for the phablet to be only 6.6 millimeters thin!
For its shell, F1 Plus flaunts this unibody aluminum back plate with rounded corners that doesn't only make it look and feel durable but also gives it an air of understated elegance.
Below the display, OPPO F1 Plus sports a latest generation fingerprint sensor right on top of the home button that allows the user to unlock the device with but a touch of a finger or to make supported app purchases without keying in his or her password. The smaller and affordable OPPO F1 does not have this useful feature.
Above the screen, you'll find one of the main selling points of the phablet, which is its 16 MegaPixel f/2.0 front-facing camera with advanced facial beautification software feature. Whereas OPPO F1 simply had four 'beauty levels' (Off, Weak, Medium, and Strong), OPPO F1 Plus offers as high as seven with more subtle or natural looking effects. Here are some of my sample selfies with Ms. Alora Uy Guerrero, Digital Marketing Manager of OPPO Philippines, taken using their latest phablet:
I'd like to note that OPPO F1 Plus is the first Android smartphone to be released in the Philippines (if not anywhere in the world) to have a higher resolution front-facing camera compared to its rear shooter -- highlighting its selfie-centric proposition. If you're wondering, this smartphone has a 13 MegaPixel f/2.2 cam at the back, which is also fairly powerful.
At its heart, this Dual SIM Dual Standby and 4G-enabled phablet runs its ColorOS3.0-flavored Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system with the beastly Octa Core 2.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A53 and Mali-T860MP2 GPU based Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset, has 4GB of RAM for stellar multitasking experience, and 64GB of expandable storage. OPPO F1 Plus is powered by a non-removable 2850 mAh Li-Po battery pack.
Color OS 3.0 is the latest version of OPPO's very own Android interface or experience. Clean and app-drawer-free, this UI is also designed to be energy efficient and easy on resources. Hence, it helps the handset to have longer uptime, allowing the user to do more on his or her OPPO F1 Plus.
Donning an official suggested retail price of Php 21,990, OPPO F1 Plus is now available at all OPPO Concept Stores and kiosks nationwide. Currently, it's just out in one premium color: Gold.

This model takes the terms 'slim' and 'sleek' to a whole new level.

Frankly, many of design elements of OPPO F1 Plus remind of Apple iPhone 6s Plus including the footprint, the curved glass touchscreen, and the white antenna bands.
You'll find the loud speaker, microUSB 2.0 port, and 3.5mm combo jack at the rear.
Nothing at the top other than the microphone pinhole for stereo sound recording when shooting videos.
