Apple iPhone 7 Plus Philippines Price, Release Date, Specs, Key Features
I was still in denial last year but now, I've fully accepted it: We've reached a point where it has become impossible for any major gadget company to completely keep unreleased but 'already being assembled' products under wraps -- especially if it's a device as popular as the iPhone.
I believe all the big brands have become more or less cool with it too.
Remember the Great iPhone 4 Leak Saga of 2010? When California police raided the house of Gizmodo Jason Chen and seized his equipment after he got hold of a lost iPhone 4 prototype? Apple valued secrecy that much back then. *sighs* I miss Steve Jobs.
Moving on.
The Apple iPhone 7 Plus phablet along with its smaller sibling - the iPhone 7 - were formally unveiled by the Cupertino company via an event in San Francisco, CA just a few hours ago. And looking at their official photos and list of features, it's hard to deny the eerie accuracy of previous rumors and leaks about these models.
Apart from the supposed exclusive Blue color and the purported 3GB of RAM, nearly everything that we've seen and heard about this large smartphone over the past several months turned out true and on point.
Indeed, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus ended up having a 5.5-inch Full HD Retina Display, Dual Camera set-up at the back with Quad Tone LED flash which is a lot brighter than what's on the iPhone 6s Plus, slightly modified look coming from its predecessor, and an IP67-certified dust-and-water-resistant body -- allowing you to use the phone under the rain, as shown in its first promo video.
That's not to say, though, that there weren't any pleasant surprises during the announcement.
I also found Phil Schiller's keynote, where he disclosed the capabilities of this model's Dual Camera module, very captivating.
According to him, the Apple iPhone 7 Plus has a 12 MegaPixel wide angle camera complemented by the 12 MegaPixel telephoto camera beside it. These two optics work together to offer two times optical zoom and up to 10 times digital zoom for photos.
This set-up also allows the handset's shooter to create a depth map in Portrait mode (aka Machine Learning) isolating the subject from the background, which is essential in delivering shots with gorgeous DSLR-like Bokeh Effect. For me, this is the best new feature of the iPhone 7 Plus.
Likewise, although I've already expected it, hearing about power of the new Quad Core Apple A10 Fusion chip filled me with excitement. The Cupertino company said that its processing power is double that of Apple A8 powering the iPhone 6 and its graphics performance is up to three times as powerful all while consuming 50% less energy! Now, ain't that sweet?
Oh, and since I enjoy taking selfies and I'm planning to post more vlogs on Youtube moving forward, I love that Apple has decided to increase the image resolution of the front FaceTimeHD cam to 7 MegaPixels and to boost its video resolution to Full HD 1080p. I first heard of this notable enhancement at the event itself.
Frankly, the accurate leaked information about this release far outnumber the fresh, previously undisclosed details that were announced at the keynote. Nonetheless, I still found the overall presentation more than compelling.
So when will Apple iPhone 7 Plus be available in the Philippines and how much will it be? Right now, I can only give you my guesstimates based on the iPhone 6s Plus' local release date and price schedule upon launch in 2015. That said, I believe that this new model will officially land here via Apple's official network partners - including Smart Communications - within the first week of November 2016 with SRP starting at around Php 44,000. However, I'm joining you in hoping that it would arrive sooner and with a more affordable price tag.
Update as of November 4, 2016: Smart Communications has started taking pre-orders for Apple iPhone 7 Postpaid Plans. The Hero Plan is Plan 2999 (with 30-month lock-in period), which gives you the device for free along with 18GB of Data, 1 free app monthly, Unlimited texts to all networks, and 90 minutes of calls to all networks.
Update as of May 10, 2018: Apple iPhone 7 Plus is still available via the Cupertino company's official online store as well as authorized retail channels nationwide. The 32GB version currently sells for PHP 42,990 while the 128GB variant goes for PHP 49,490.

For one, I instantly fell in love with iPhone 7 Plus in Jet Black, which is the exclusive and premium color for this model. Earlier leaks failed to mention this.

Even though iPhone 7 Plus' display has the same size and resolution as that of iPhone 6s Plus from last year, the new one delivers a wider color gamut, ensuring a better photo and video viewing experience.
Oh, and since I enjoy taking selfies and I'm planning to post more vlogs on Youtube moving forward, I love that Apple has decided to increase the image resolution of the front FaceTimeHD cam to 7 MegaPixels and to boost its video resolution to Full HD 1080p. Apple iPhone 7 Plus will be available in a number of colors, namely, Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, Black (Dark Slate Grey), and Jet Black. The phablet will be out in three variants based on amount of storage space: 32GB, 128GB, and - get this - a whopping 256GB!
So when will Apple iPhone 7 Plus be available in the Philippines and how much will it be?
