I have a plan to buy another battery for my laptop so that i will have extended battery in case the first one got off. Is this a good idea? I mean it is okay to change your laptop battery once in a while?

For most laptops, there's no problem with swapping batteries as long as they are of EXACTLY the same model and number. Check your laptop's user manual or manufacturer's site for more details on swapping batteries.
