Apple iPhone 3GS Full Features Guide
Things have been pretty busy at the Apple camp these past few days. Of course, there's WWDC and the Macbook revision announcements. Also, Safari 4 was officially launched for both Windows and Mac just a few days ago. But probably the biggest event that happened was the announcement of Apple iPhone 3G S -- the latest version of Apple's touchscreen smartphone.
TechPinas has been publishing 'insider stories' about the then rumored iPhone 4G but as it turns out, Apple went for a different and a tad more interesting name for the new iPhone: 3GS. For those who are wondering: S apparently stands for SPEED as this iPhone, according to Apple, is two-times faster in launching applications or loading Web pages compared to its predecessors.
Thanks to its built-in processor, launching messages is 2.1 faster and loading websites via Safari is 2.9 times faster. Interestingly, it also consumes less energy leading to improved battery life.
But the improvements didn't end there. Here are the other cool features of iPhone 3GS:
Graphics and Display:
iPhone 3GS features a new 3G graphics support hardware that, as expected, runs complex 3G games faster and better. The phone sports a 3.5 widescreen multitouch display with fingerprint-resistant oleophobic coating - which, simply put, resists fingeprints. Isn't that cool?
Design
Contrary to previous reports, iPhone 3GS didn't end up having a matte finish. Instead, it retains the same glossy look of iPhone 3G and also has similar dimensions, 4.5 x 2.4 x 0.48 inches; It's a bit heavier though at 4.8 ounces. But again, just like 3G, it comes in black or white.
Wondering if the design is Green enough? Yep, the LCD display - at least - is Arsenic and Mercury free.
Network / Connectivity
iPhone 3GS comes with these connectivity options: Three band UMTS/HSDPA, Four band GSM/EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. It also supports 7.2 Mbps 3G standard, which supposedly speeds up data transfer.
Imaging
iPhone 3GS sports a 3 Megapixel camera at the back that supports any iPhone apps. It features auto focus (with tapping), auto exposure, auto white balance and special macro and low light modes. It also supports video capture and geo-tagging.
Battery Life
With iPhone 3GS, you get 12 hours of talk time on 2G and 5 hours on 3G. Standby time is around 300 hours. 3G gives around 5 hours of internet use, 9 hours with WIFI. You get 10 hours playing Videos and 30 hours playing just audio.
