Apple Slams Cracking, Exploding iPhone 3GS Accusations

"The iPhones with broken glass that we have analyzed to date show that in all cases, the glass cracked due to an external force that was applied to the iPhone,"

Quoted by BBC last weekend, this is part of Apple's statement on accusations from some users in France that the iPhone 3GS cracks and explodes without warning.

Pretty strong and straight-forward -- but the slamming didn't end there. The company also responded to European Commission's Investigation into accusations of overheating and exploding iPhones:

"To date, there are no confirmed battery-overheating incidents for iPhone 3GS, and the number of reports we are investigating is in the single digits."

Meanwhile, Frank Benoiton of Acheres-la-Foret in France - whose wife's iPhone cracked without warning, told Associated Press that the device "was not dropped and experienced no unusual shock."
