Samsung S3650W Corby vs. S3650 S3653 Corby : The Rumored Corby vs. The Actual Corby

Joh_mp4 sent TP this question via Ask TechPinas Pex Thread yesterday:
"[What's the difference between Samsung Corby S3650W and the Samsung Corby that's currently out in the Philippines - S3653?]"

Hi Joh! Thanks for the inquiry!

First of all, just to clarify, Corby S3650W is but a rumored Samsung release. We're not even sure if this model will even see production. So, the S3650W specs that are currently floating around the net are most likely just made up by over-excited Corby fans.

But anyway, just for the sake of comparison, here's Samsung Corby S3650W vs. S3653 (a derivative of S3650):

According to RUMORS, S3650W looks exactly like S3653 and has similar dimensions: 103 x 56.5 x 12 mm . They likewise share the same proprietary operating system, same camera and same color options.

There are, however, three main differences between the two Corby models:

1. Unlike S3653, S3650W dons a capacitive touchscreen vs. S3653's resistive touchscreen. (read more about Capacitive vs. Resistive: Touchscreen Battle HERE.) NOTE: The main difference between the non-wifi S3650 and S3653 is that the former dons a capacitive touchscreen while the latter has resistive touchcreen.

2. S3650 features Wi-Fi 802.11b/g connectivity - S3653 doesn't.

3. S3650W features 3G 384 kbps connectivity - S3653 doesn't.

Again, S3650W is a RUMORED phone (if not fan-fiction) and in my opinion, there's no point holding out on your S3653 purchase in hopes that S3650W will be released anytime soon.

Then again, I notice Samsung is quite fond of surprising consumers these days.

UPDATE: As it turned out, Samsung has released a wifi enabled Corby S3653, which is aptly called S3653W. Unlike the rumored S3650W though, it features a resistive touchscreen instead of a capacitive one. Read more about Samsung Corby Wifi S3653W here.

  10. you're wrong Mr. S3653W is better than S3650. Take note that S3650 does not have a Wi-fi and also not a 3G. You did a wrong info as you describe above that's not a S3650, that's a Corby PRO. you can see here: http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/touch-phone/GT-B5310RRAINS/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail
