What's new with IE9?
HTML5 - The supposed Adobe Flash killer, which - in essence - aims to make websites behave more like apps.
Scalable Vector Graphics - This allows for the creation of graphics that scale perfectly on IE9 — as they are made in vector format instead of raster.
Embeddable Audio - By supporting MP3/AAC codecs, IE9 allows users to embed audio files as they would with video files.
CSS3 - CSS is basically what the web is formatted with. IE9 supports more standards-based CSS3—including Color, Values, Backgrounds and Borders and fonts, among others — and should support more before launch.
2D Acceleration - IE9 incorporates DirectX video acceleration to SVG graphics and even text, which results in faster and smoother rendering.
h.264 video - This feature makes HTML5 a true flash killer. h.264 is the video format standard the big sites like Youtube and Vimeo have chosen to go with as flash alternative, and now Internet Explorer will likewise support it.

System Requirements:
Internet Explorer Platform Preview requires Windows 7 (x86 or x64) or Windows Vista SP2 (x86 or x64).
For Vista users, Windows Internet Explorer 8 and DirectX 2D (D2D) must be installed on your system. If you’re not already running Internet Explorer 8, download and install it first. Then install DirectX 2D by installing the Platform Update for Windows Vista, available on Windows Update. - Microsoft
