Samsung Corby Smartphone i5500 aka Samsung Galaxy 5 - Specs, Price - Runs on Android
Having a robust 600 MHz processor and running Android OS version 2.1 (Eclair), Samsung Corby i5500 Smartphone is easily the most powerful Corby of all.
Also known as Samsung Galaxy 5, Corby Smartphone will hit store shelves Europe within this week with a price tag of just 199 Euros or roughly Php 11,300 prior to taxes and other subsidies. At this price point, this smartphone becomes one of the cheapest Samsung Android handsets with a full-powered CPU.
Despite its small footprint (with dimensions of 108 x 56 x 12.3 mm), Corby Smartphone comes with a quite impressive specifications-set. Aside from the processor, the phone dons a 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen, 2 megapixel camera, 100 MB of internal memory, expandable storage via microSD card slot, microUSB port, 3.5mm audio jack and 1200 mAh battery. It also supports practically all connectivity options you'll ever need, specifically Wi-Fi with DLNA, 3G with HSDPA, GPS with A-GPS and Bluetooth. RAM and ROM details remain a mystery but considering that the phone runs Android Eclair operating system, I'm guessing both should be 256MB each, at least.
We've yet to hear word from Samsung Electonics Philippines on this particular phone model. As such, we all have to stay tuned for updates.
