26% of Filipino Youth Could Not Live Without a Cellphone

Caught this on TV Patrol earlier.

Results of Synovate's 2009 Young Asians Survey show that 26% of Filipino youth are inseparable from their cellphones or around 1 out of 4 young Pinoys couldn't live without their mobile handsets.

Considering that the Philippines was once considered as the texting capital of the world and that the Filipino youth remains to be the leader in Asia in terms of communicating with loved ones via cellphone, this shouldn't really come as a big surprise.

Carole Sarthou - Managing Director of Synovate Philippines explains the survey results,

"Malaking bagay sa'tin kasi yung keeping in touch and in fact, if we look at the average number of contacts that these youth have in their phonebook, 102-103 ang average." (Keeping in touch is big thing for us and in fact, if we look at the average number of contacts that there youth have in their phonebook, 102-103 is the average.)

TP Reaction:

Roughly 1 in 4?! Isn't that a bit too conservative? :D
