Nokia Siemens Networks : Self-Organizing Network Media Brief Philippines, Information and Photos

Last week, TechPinas received an invite to attend the media briefing for Nokia Siemens Networks' SON or Self-Organizing Network solution. And we graced the event.

To put it simply, Self-Organizing Network solution aims to aid mobile connectivity service providers in effectively managing their 2G and 3G networks and to quickly adapt and advance to 4G and LTE. LTE is a next generation connectivity option that, while not as popular, is nonetheless a lot faster than both 2G and 3G and has significantly wider coverage.

Nokia Siemens Networks intends to bring SON technology to the Philippines the soonest as it has the potential to greatly improve connectivity in our country given its archipelagic nature, among other things.

Riina Luoma, Nokia Siemens Marketing Manager, shared that Self-Organizing Network aims to help mobile networks leapfrog to a higher level of automated operation and to adapt to a next-generation cellular radio technology known as LTE or Long Term Evolution.

Riina likewise stated that SON has ability to distribute bandwidth equitably among users in congested traffic and to balance loads between cells in real-time. At times of low traffic, the technology can also automate power savings.
