Samsung Galaxy Player YP-GB1 : Android Portable Media Player, Specs and Features
If iPod Touch 4G is touted as 'iPhone 4 without the phone', then Samsung Galaxy Player YP-GB1 could very well be its counterpart in the Android world.
It's practically a Samsung Galaxy S without the phone and the SuperAMOLED screen!
To be showcased by Samsung at CES 2011 next week, 9.9 millimeter thick Samsung Galaxy Player YP-GB1 runs Android 2.2 Froyo operating system with its 1GHz processor. It features a 4-inch Super Clear LCD screen with WVGA or 800 x 480 resolution, SoundAlive Audio Enhancing technology, a 3.2 MegaPixel Camera at the back and another one in front for video calls, HD video playback, 1200mAh removable battery and a microSD card slot. As for connectivity options, it supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 3.0.
Samsung hasn't released official pricing and release details of this portable media player. As such, we don't have word yet on its availability in the Philippines. I'm speculating though that, globally, it will arrive sometime in Q1 or Q2 2010 with price schedule similar to that of the 4th generation iPod Touch (or around $229 to $399).
We'll update this post as soon as more information on Samsung Galaxy Player YP-GB1 surface.
