Sony Ericsson Xperia Play : Confirmed Specifications, Leaked Photos

Contrary to earlier speculations, Sony Ericsson's Android smartphone-gaming console hybrid won't don the moniker PlayStation Phone or PSPhone, it's gonna be called simply 'Play' --

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play flaunts a large 4" LCD display with FWVGA or 854 x 480 pixels resolution. To provide a great gaming experience, the handset runs on a 1 GHz Qualcomm CPU with the Adreno 205 GPU and 512 MB of RAM. A microSD card slot also comes in handy for storing a lot of games while the 3.5mm audio jack lets users enjoy loud gaming audio privately.



The smartphone packs a 5 MegaPixel camera at the back that's also capable of recording high-definition 720p videos. It also has a microUSB port and a second microphone with noise-cancellation feature.

Running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is expected to be officially announced by the company at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) happening in Barcelona, Spain next month. We'll let you know the phone's official pricing and release details by then.
