Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 : Price, Specs - Super Clear LCD Display
Note that this is NOT the next generation Samsung Galaxy S that's expected to land this year.
I believe Samsung had decided to release this handset so the company can have enough supply of SuperAMOLED display for Samsung Galaxy S2 - the legit follow up to the best selling Android handset of 2010 - while not having to drop or discontinue the original Galaxy S.
Samsung Galaxy SL looks almost like its popular sibling with quite few design differences; Most noticeable of which is its Super Clear LCD display in contrast to Samsung Galaxy S' Super AMOLED screen. Note that Samsung Galaxy SL's display is similar to what's found on Samsung Wave 2. While not as brilliant or as eye-popping as SuperAMOLED, Super Clear LCD nonetheless delivers clear and crisp display that can be viewed even in broad daylight.
Also, Samsung Galaxy SL is a bit taller, thicker and heavier than its predecessor. The original Galaxy S has dimensions of 122.4 x 64.2 x 9.9 millimeters and weighs 119 grams. Galaxy SL, on the other hand, flaunts dimensions of 123.7 x 64.2 x 10.6 millimeters and weighs 131 grams. The only good thing about this is that Galaxy SL comes with a bigger battery, which should give longer uptime.
We've yet to receive word from Samsung on this handset's global release date and actual pricing details. I'm guessing though that it will hit store shelves either in March or April with a price tag of around Php 27,000 -- hopefully, even less. And considering how popular Samsung Galaxy S is here in the Philippines, I reckon it's highly unlikely for Galaxy SL not to be released here. Please stay tuned for updates.
In the meantime, check out the complete technical specifications of Samsung Galaxy i9003 SL;
