BlackBerry Torch 9860 Philippines Price, Specs, Photos
This post collates all relevant information about BlackBerry Torch 9860 in the Philippines.
Contrary to earlier reports, Research in Motion ended up naming their 2011 full touchscreen flagship handset 'BlackBery Torch 9860' instead of 'BlackBerry Touch Monza'.
Based on its looks alone, we can say that BB Torch 9860 is a reincarnation of the discontinued BlackBerry Storm line -- characterized by a full touchscreen form factor as opposed to Curve and Bold's the candybar full QWERTY design. The last BB Storm handset was BlackBerry Storm 2 released in 2009.
One thing that really makes this handset special is that it runs BlackBerry OS 7, the most updated version of RIM's mobile operating system. BB OS 7 features an enhanced browser which is supposedly 40% faster than that of BB OS 6. It also includes a new version of both BBM, which now integrates seamlessly with a range of other apps, and Facebook for BlackBerry.
I think it looks quite hot; I'm looking forward to seeing it in the flesh. Off hand though, I'm not sure if it can actually take on the giants in its 'full touchscreen' category -- especially the iPhone and the Dual-Core Android handsets. Let's see if it's any good.
I'm expecting BB Torch 9680 to arrive as a bundled handset with top-tier postpaid plans from mobile networks sometime in Q4 this year. As yet, we don't have the SRP but trust that we'll update this post as soon as we have word from RIM.
In the meantime, if you will, check out the complete technical specifications of the phone:
