Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 Philippines Price, Specs, Quick Demo Video, In the Flesh Photos!
Last Friday, at the Smart-PLDT Jump Store in SM Megamall, I was able to play with a demo unit of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9. (TP Friends, feel free to visit the store if you want to experience some of the latest gadgets out in the Philippines today.)
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 is the smaller brother of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. Aside from the obvious difference in display size, the two tablets share largely the same technical specifications; 1 GHz dual core processor, 3.15 MP autofocus camera with flash, 720p HD video recorder, Android 3.1 Honeycomb operating system, 16GB of storage, and Wifi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity support.
Here's how the tablet looks like in the flesh:
Interestingly, even though Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a smaller display, its price tag is actually very close to that of its bigger brother, which is around Php 30,000. I guess it's because portability in itself can be considered a main selling point. Being smaller, Tab 8.9 is just easier to carry around.
Wondering how Android Honeycomb user interface looks like on Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9? Here's my quick demo video of the tablet (Again, pardon the incessant shaking. I've never been good at taking videos or photos, for that matter. Please bear with me.):
I'll see if I can secure a review unit from Samsung Philippines to play with it for at least a couple weeks so I can give my full review.
In the meantime, here are the complete technical specifications of Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9:
