Smart LTE 4G Speeds Live Demo at Launch in Resorts World Manila, August 25, 2012
Yesterday, I graced Smart Communications' invitation for the launch of their first-ever LTE mobile internet postpaid plan. The landmark event - kicked off with opening remarks from Mr. Noel Lorenzana, Head of Consumer Wireless Division at Smart - was held at Resorts World Manila.
Smart LTE Plan 3500, which delivers speeds of up to 42Mbps and 10GB of mobile data, finally gives consumers a chance to experience the fastest mobile connection currently available. Users who feel that 10GB just won't be enough given the speed of connection can just pay an additional Php 450 for every exceeding GB.
As previously explained on TechPinas, Long Term Evolution or LTE is the latest generation in mobile broadband standards. Superseding 3G, LTE is capable of delivering speeds of up to 100Mbps making it the fastest mobile connection available anywhere in the world.
Midway through the event, Smart held an online gaming exhibition between Diablo players in Manila and Cebu perhaps to highlight one of the supposedly more practical uses of ultra-fast LTE connection speeds.
The Smart LTE dongle, which subscribers get for free with the plan, is said to cost Php 8,000. Made by Huawei, this stick is a lot smaller and slicker than the one I used for the beta testing of the service in Boracay last year.
During the launch, I asked one of the models to give me a demo of Smart LTE speeds. If you will, check out my one-take video,
TP Friends, do you like this bundle? Are you subscribing to it? How do you think Smart can further improve this plan? Kindly leave your comments below.
