Apple iPhone 5 Official Announcement Will Be on September 13, 2012, 1 AM, Manila Time!
The follow-up to the best-selling Apple iPhone 4S is expected to be announced on September 13, 2012 at around 1 o'clock in the morning Manila Time via an exclusive media event in Yerba Buena Theater in San Francisco, California.
Only some peeps at Apple have seen the actual design of the next generation iPhone (and they remain tight-lipped about it), but according to some "industry insiders", this is how the handset will more or less look.
Running the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system called iOS6, which brings several key enhancements like Facebook Integration, a smarter Siri, Maps by Apple, Shared Photo Streams, and FaceTime over Cellular among many others, the new iPhone is said to flaunt a larger and taller 4-inch display vs. the 3.5-inch screen of iPhone 4S, a smaller dock connector, LTE connectivity and Nano-SIM card support, a new spot for the FaceTime camera, and a faster and more powerful processor, all wrapped in a unibody aluminum enclosure.
So what's the official name? The New iPhone? iPhone 5? In a feat quite uncharacteristic of the company, Apple gave a hint of what its next smartphone will be called via the event invite it sent out to members of the media a week or so ago --
Bearing the familiar cryptic text, "It's almost here.", the invitation sports the number 12 in large font, which is for September 12 - the official announcement date of the new iPhone in the US (September 12, 10AM, Pacific Time = September 13, 1AM, Manila Time), casting a shadow resembling the number 5, which I believe tells us that the device will indeed be called iPhone 5.
Only less than 12 hours before Apple announces the much anticipated new iPhone! Stay tuned for updates, TP Friends! Looks like I'll be staying up the whole night tonight again!
