iOS6 Out Now in the Philippines : The First Screen Shots!
I've just finished installing iOS6 on my #SmartiPhone4S! And as expected, most of the new features it brings are rather slammin'!
If you own a non-jailbroken, factory unlocked iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4th Generation, iPhone 4, iPad2, the new iPad, and iPhone 3GS, you can also easily upgrade to this latest version of Apple's mobile operating system over-the-air using a WiFi connection. Just visit our How to Upgrade to iOS6 post to find out how.
But before that, you might first want to check out my screen grabs of iOS6 running on my iPhone to get an idea of what exactly the firmware upgrade brings;
You can bid your old Youtube App "CRT TV" icon goodbye. But be prepared to welcome the new icons for Maps by Apple and Passbook on your home screen! Oh, and although Apple has altogether ditched the old Youtube app (which just redirects you to Safari anyway), you can always the new and better one from Google via App Store.
This is the much-hyped Maps by Apple, which effectively replaces Google Maps on iOS6. More about this on TP soon.
The camera gets a Panaroma mode for capturing those ultra-wide, scenic shots!
This is Photo Stream on the new Gallery for easily sharing images with friends, family, loved ones, or team members via iCloud.
Thanks to Facebook Integration, users can now quickly share photos and videos straight from the gallery to their FB accounts!
But to activate this feature, you'd first have to log-in to your Facebook account and allow permissions via Settings. Don't worry, you won't have to look for this section; You'll be redirected to it when you try sharing stuff on Facebook for the first time.
This is Passbook. Uhm... yeah.
The New Siri speaks more languages and is now more sports-savvy!
The New Safari loads websites a whole lot faster than the old one! The speed is almost Opera Mini like, I promise you. Thumbs up, Apple!
And yes, it supports Facebook Integration!
App Store gets a new look. Not sure if I like this better than the old one; Just too much swiping needed to navigate the app. Also, the previous version looked a tad more organized, I think.
There's now this Do Not Disturb option in the Settings plus a separate section for Privacy.
You can now Tweet or update your status on Facebook with one swipe from the top frame and one click on an icon in the notifications tab. Oh, I love this new feature!
So there you go, TP Friends! iOS6 on my iPhone 4S! Give me more time to play with it and I'll post my quick review soon. Have fun updating your iDevice!
