Asus Eee PC X101CH Price, Specifications, Release Date, Features : Affordable Cedar Trail Netbook, Out Now in the Philippines!
I know that smartphones and tablets are the hottest gadgets these days but remember that they aren't the only gizmos that you can get yourself this coming Christmas.
There are new desktops, laptops, netbooks, gaming consoles, speakers, headphones, accessories, and Smart 3D TVs - among many others - that you might want to check out when you do your Yuletide gadget shopping.
In the netbook category, I reckon this new release from Asus will be very attractive to budget-conscious consumers for two reasons. First, because it already runs on the new Intel Atom N2600 CPU. And second, because it's very affordable. Not to mention, it's also quite cute.
Asus Eee PC X101CH looks like the MeeGo-powered X101 from last year - replete with the 10.1-inch LED back-lit WSVGA resolution display, the ergonomic keyboard, and the 3-cell battery delivering 5 hours of uptime - but it's powered by a next generation Intel Atom Cedar Trail processor, it comes with a 320GB hard disk drive, and there's a variant with Windows 7 Starter OS pre-installed.
As I've earlier explained on TP via our Intel Atom N2600 vs N550 entry, Intel's new Cedar Trail Atom CPUs (including N2600 and N2800, which power most new netbook releases from companies like Asus and Acer) share the same dual core architecture as their Pine Trail predecessors (like N450 and N550), but the former is better in at least three ways. First, Cedar Trail's dual core chip is 32nm vs. PineTrail's 45nm; This means that you can fit more transistors on the Cedar Trail die making it more powerful. Second, Cedar Trail features an improved on die GPU for enhanced graphics rendering performance. And third, the more updated chip consumes 20% less power than Pine Trail resulting in longer uptime.
Its innards are good but its design and construction are also notable. According to Asus, the X101CH was designed to be thin and lightweight, for maximum portability. The netbook, which boasts a profile that's less than one inch thick and weighs less than 1 kilogram, features a comfortable keyboard with chiclet-style keys and large responsive trackpad.
Anyway, if you're interested, Asus Eee PC X101CH is available in three colors - namely, Red, Brown, and Black - and is now up for purchase at all Asus authorized retailers nationwide. As for the price, the variant that comes with Windows 7 Starter OS pre-installed sells for Php 13,995 while the one with no operating system goes for only Php 12,995.
