Globe BlackBerry Curve 8520 Blister Pack : Spotted! Sells for Only Php 6,990!
Nope, Globe Telecom wasn't trippin' when they said via press release two months back that they're gonna sell BlackBerry handsets in blister packs (kinda like action figures).
Yesterday, after having coffee at Starbucks Lucky Chinatown Mall in Binondo, I decided to dropby Globe's business center at the top floor to check if they have new phones or tablets I can play with.
A quick look on the display shelf and I saw one or two models I haven't featured on TechPinas yet. But what really caught my attention was this curious pack almost hidden at the bottom compartment.
For all Doubting Thomases, there you go! I've seen it in the flesh; It's for real!
Globe Prepaid BlackBerry Curve 8520 in blister pack sells for only Php 6,990 and as I've earlier shared on TP, the kit includes the phone itself along with complete accessories namely, stereo headset, microUSB cable, travel charger, and even a free premium skin case, 2GB microSD card, and a Globe Prepaid SIM card letting you choose your own freebie offer.
Although already more than two years old, BlackBerry Curve 8520 - I would say - is still a good handset for entry level users who are longing to be part of Team BlackBerry in the Philippines. The smartphone runs an older version of the BlackBerry operating system but nonetheless supports all the messaging and social networking applications that I'm sure BB fans totally love like BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), Facebook for BlackBerry, and Twitter for BlackBerry.
(Just between us though, I'd suggest that you just add a bit more to your budget and get Globe BlackBerry Curve 9220 Blister Pack, which sells for Php 9,990 but is a tad sleeker and already runs BlackBerry 7, the latest version of the BlackBerry operating system.)
