Globe LTE Smartphones, Unveiled! Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE and HTC One XL : Part of the Line-up, Arriving Soon!
If you think iPhone 5 is the only note-worthy LTE-enabled smartphone that's arriving in the Philippines this year, think again.
Samsung, HTC, and even ZTE and Huawei all have powerhouse Android handsets supporting the fastest mobile speeds that are set to be launched exclusively via Globe Telecom within the next three months!
According to Globe Telecom, "Starting this quarter, Globe will be the first Philippine telco to offer the latest LTE-enabled smartphones in its Globe Stores, in time for the launch of the country’s first-ever mobile 4G LTE network from Globe"
These "Globe Exclusive" smartphones include the much-awaited Samsung Galaxy S III LTE and the sleek HTC One XL plus ZTE T81, and Huawei Ascend P1 LTE! All of which are capable of running on data speeds of up to 100Mbps and will be available under Globe's suite of postpaid plans starting at Plan 999 bundled with unlimited surfing, consumable amount for calls and texts, freebies, and of course, Globe's guarantee of superior customer service.
Samsung Galaxy S III LTE with its 4.8-inch Super AMOLED display has all the bells and whistles of the regular Samsung Galaxy S III announced earlier this year but it features stellar enhancements like 2GB RAM for improved multi-tasking and the buttery smooth Android Jellybean OS right out of the box! The svelte Samsung Galaxy S III LTE Sapphire Black is a Globe-exclusive color variant.
HTC One XL, on the other hand, is the runs on a 1.5 GHz Dual Core Krait CPU and comes replete with 1GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage, 4.7-inch display, Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 8 megapixel camera, Beats Audio.
ZTE T81, the Chinese company's current flagship device, has 1.5 GHz Dual Core processor running Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, and features a 4-inch display, 5 MegaPixel camera, and WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity support.
Finally, Huawei Ascend P1 LTE runs Android 4.0 ICS OS with 1.5GH Dual Core CPU, and features 1GB of RAM, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display, WiFi and Bluetooth support, and an 8 MegaPixel camera with dual LED flash.
"We are excited to offer our first-ever array of LTE-powered smartphone devices to our subscribers, thanks to our strong partnership with some of the world's leading device manufacturers that allow us to bring this portfolio of smartphones exclusively to our subscribers, making the Philippines one of the few markets globally to introduce a wide range of LTE-capable handsets," shared Ms. Martha Sazon, Head of Globe Postpaid.
"With our fired-up LTE network, subscribers can benefit and enjoy a new mobile experience with the latest LTE smartphones. Aside from this line-up, our subscribers can expect more LTE-enabled smartphones running on the Globe 4G LTE network coming very soon."
With Globe 4G LTE peak speeds of up to a whopping 60 Mbps for outdoor coverage and 30 Mbps for deployments inside buildings, users are sure to enjoy online content and become more productive on the internet like never before; They can watch full HD videos on Youtube with zero buffering and send massive amounts of large files without having to wait hours just to upload them. And with an additional 12,000 kilometers of fiber optic cable being rolled-out to enable 4G LTE activation for majority of Globe's cell sites, just imagine the possibilities.
"The speed for our LTE network is at least 10x faster than existing 2G and 3G networks, giving quicker responses to every user application such as video and mobile gaming," said Mr. Robert Tan, Chief Technology Adviser of Globe "Finally, the Globe 4G LTE network boasts of better outdoor coverage by using advanced antenna solutions."
Globe's strategy for 4G LTE rollout is to focus on large contiguous areas of coverage to ensure greater and more stable coverage for customers -- as opposed to doing "pocket activations" or "hotspots". Quoting Globe, "Key commercial and residential areas in Makati City will be the first to enjoy the Globe 4G LTE service, followed by select areas in Metro Manila, Cebu and Davao by yearend, expanding quickly to cover more areas nationwide by 2013."
Just last month, TechPinas covered the launch of Globe Telecom's 4G LTE broadband stick, Tattoo Black, through its flagship broadband brand Tattoo. A premium mobile broadband stick powered by LTE combining breakneck mobile speeds and an exclusive line-up of high-end perks and freebies, Tattoo Black is now available via Plan 1799 for speeds of up to 28 Mbps and Elite Plan 2499 with speeds of up to 42 Mbps.
