Where and How to Download Games and Apps for Nokia Asha 311, 306, 305, 309, and 308 Smartphones?
This post is for all TP Friends who've been emailing and tweeting me about their new Nokia Asha Touch handsets, asking how and where they can download games and applications for their phones.
Nokia Asha 311, 305, and 306, which are now available in the Philippines, are considered "lite" smartphones mainly because of their solid set of multimedia features and their ability to connect to the internet through a fast and capable browser as well as to run third-party games and applications including those for social networking like Facebook and Twitter.
If you're using any of these Asha Touch handsets (or if you intend to purchase either of the upcoming Nokia Asha 309 or Nokia Asha 308 this Yuletide), know that you can download additional games and apps on your phone on top of those that come pre-installed on your device. You can do that by visiting Nokia Store and registering a Nokia account.
To launch Nokia Store, just make sure you're connected to a WiFi or 3G network and click on the shopping bag icon on the 'apps grid' homescreen.
Nokia Store is basically a hub where you can download both free and paid games and applications for your Asha. When downloading an app for the first time, Nokia will ask you to register for a Nokia account, which only takes a few minutes to accomplish, and to sign in. You can buy paid apps using your prepaid load or if you're on postpaid, the fee will just be added to your monthly bill.
There are thousands of apps in various categories that are up for download. To get one running on your phone, all you have to click on its name in Nokia Store and press the download button. Once installation is done, the app icon will appear on your Asha's homescreen for quick access.
A gift from Nokia and EA! All Nokia Asha Touch handsets come with 40 free games from Electronic Arts, including some of their ultra-popular titles like Need for Speed The Run, Bejeweled, SimCity Deluxe, Monopoly Here and Now, and EA Sports FIFA 12.
Aside from these free games, some of the most downloaded free apps for Nokia Asha Touch smartphones include Angry Birds Seasons, Yahoo Messenger, Grow Fish Pro, The Street Combat, and HD Youtube Player.
