Nokia Lumia 510 Quick Review, In The Flesh Photos, Is This The Right Smartphone For You?
Finally got the chance to play with Nokia Lumia 510 during the Yuletide break. And I have to tell you, I'm thoroughly impressed.
To be honest, when I got the press release from Nokia Philippines last November confirming the official suggested retail price of handset, I really thought that I'd do well to keep my expectations in check. "Php 7,290 for a Windows Phone? Nokia must have cut too many corners to keep the price that low," I told myself.
But when I saw and held the actual unit for the first time last December, the handset immediately captured my fancy. And suffice it to say, it exceeded all of my expectations. Sure, it doesn't have the monoblock polycarbonate shell and powerful camera of Nokia Lumia 800 and 900 but given its price tag and everything that Nokia managed to give it for that amount, it's truly hard to ask for more from the device.
Design-wise and in terms of construction, Nokia Lumia 510 is very similar to its ever slightly more expensive sibling, the Nokia Lumia 610. The two handsets flaunt a very simple, subdued design yet exude understated elegance. "Nokia Lumia 510 is just a Nokia Lumia 610 without LED flash and video recorder," I would often say.
According to Nokia, the Nokia Lumia 510, which brings the Windows Phone experience to a lower price point, is ideal for budget-conscious consumers and entry-level users who are curious about the WP platform.
What's so hot about Windows Phone, you ask? Well, Windows Phone sets itself apart from other smartphone platforms like iOS or Android via Live Tiles, which make it easy to see incoming messages and updates, and in-app activities; People Hub, which brings together updates and contact from your Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn accounts into one location making it easier for you to manage and update them, and access to mobile versions of Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office.
With Nokia Lumia 510, you get an exclusive and feature-rich mapping and navigation experience through Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive. Along with stellar hardware and imaging capabilities, these location services are what set Nokia WP handsets apart from those by other brands.
As I've shared on TP, if you're on a tight budget, Nokia Lumia 510 presents a perfect opportunity for you to be part of the growing Windows Phone community in the Philippines! Nokia Lumia 510 is now available at Wellcom/Wellcom 3C Stores, Wellcom Digital Express Kiosks, MP3 King Kiosks, Nokia Kiosk Isetann, Nokia Kiosk Riverbanks, Nokia Kiosk Sta. Lucia East Mall, MP3 Express Kiosks, Nokia Store SM Sta. Rosa, Nokia Store Rockwell, and Nokia Kiosk Ever Gotesco. You can get the smartphone in Red, Black, and White.
To wrap this up, I want to share with you my quick hands-on video of Nokia Lumia 510 where I also shared my thoughts about the kind of smartphone consumer this release is for and gave a short demo of some of the features of this affordable WP handset that I really like.
