Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt Price Php 3,999, Release Date, Technical Specifications, In the Flesh! Quad Core Jelly Bean Android Tablet, Arriving Soon!
Yesterday, at the Diamond Hotel in Manila, local electronics giant Cherry Mobile held an exclusive media event to officially unveil its first ever quad core Android tablet!
Set to become available at all authorized Cherry Mobile retail outlets this coming March, Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system with a 1 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A9 based processor, handles multitasking with 1 GB of RAM (which is a welcome change from the 512 MB of RAM that usually comes with Android devices from local brands), comes replete with a 4,000 mAh battery, has dual cameras (a 2 MegaPixel shooter at the back and a VGA one in front), and flaunts a 7-inch high definition IPS capacitive touchscreen display.
The device features a slim and rather rugged design identity. The front is all glass while the back comes with a textured and matte finish making it less likely for the tablet to accidentally slip when you hold it. The sides are tapered giving an illusion that Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt is thinner than it actually is (then again, even without this design element, I don't think anyone would deem the slate thick.)
But the best thing about this upcoming release is its very affordable SRP. To be priced at only Php 3,999, Cherry Mobile Fusion will easily become the most affordable quad core device (smartphone or tablet) in the Philippines when it hits store shelves a few weeks from now. How the company managed to keep the price of the slate that low remains to be a mystery to us but we'll soon run benchmark tests on the device to check if the innards - especially the quad core CPU - indeed provide great user experience or if the old saying 'You get what you pay for.' holds true in this case.
Mr. Lonson Alejandrino - Product Manager for Smartphones, Mr. Miguel Bonifacio - Brand Officer for Smartphones, Ms. Eunice Lodripas - Brand Specialist for Feature Phones, and Ms. Joanne Cuarenta - Marketing Manager
We may not know exactly how CM manages to keep the prices of its handsets and tablets very friendly to the pockets of consumers but we now know what motivates the company to deliver on this promise. After the event, I got the chance to have a chat with Ms. Joanne Cuarenta, Cherry Mobile's Marketing Manager, and she told me that the reason why CM products are priced really low is that they want to give everyone, regardless of how much budget they have for a gadget, an opportunity to experience the wonders of an Android device. I guess last year's best-seller, the Php 3,999 Cherry Mobile Flare, along with the Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt tablet are a true testament to that vision.
