Cloudfone Excite 400d Price Php 4,499, Runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, Complete Technical Specifications, Release Date, Initial Impressions
"Mark, CloudFone Excite 400d has just come in [and we are giving you a unit] so you can have the first look at it. It will hit stores starting Monday - April 15," Miss Celine Lopez - Cloudfone's Marketing Manager, told me last week.
Priced at only Php 4,499, Cloudfone Excite 400d is currently the most affordable smartphone in the Philippines to run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.
As I've shared earlier on TP, what makes Jelly Bean particularly cool is that it comes with the benefits Project Butter, which aims to minimize lags and make the overall Android user experience more intuitive and enjoyable. In fact, in terms of responsiveness to touch gestures and smoothness of screen transitions, Jelly Bean truly represents a major leap from all versions of the platform that Google has churned out thus far.
Apart from its OS and its quite capable MediaTek MTK6577 chipset, however, there are three other things that I really like about this release. First, the 4-inch WVGA display is a joy to behold. While it's merely TFT, the screen nonetheless gives crisp details and vibrant colors.
Second, the back case is swappable so you can change its color depending on your mood or to match your outfit. The cover is available in three colors, namely [Sky] Blue, Pink, and Yellow, and you even get an one for free along with the standard black case that comes with the phone.
Finally, according to Cloudfone, Excite 400d's 5 MegaPixel camera has zero shutter lag. This means that it can focus on a subject really fast and allow the user to snap photos more quickly.
Oh, and it also doesn't hurt that the unit looks quite cute. Its design - I think - is very reminiscent of that of Xiaomi MI-2 smartphone, which is clean and simple yet still eye-catching. Watch me unbox my Cloudfone Excite 400d and see for yourself how good it looks on video.
Off hand, I believe Cloudfone Excite 400d will be a very sulit purchase for a lot of budget-conscious Pinoy gadget fans. It's not perfect - it only comes with a 1,400 mah battery pack and the camera could really use a back-lit sensor for brighter shots - but all things taken into account, this handset is a really good release that could very well end up joining Cloudfone Thrill 430g and Cloudfone Thrill 430x as yet another best-seller for the brand.
