Cherry Mobile Cosmos X may be the cheapest member of CM's upcoming line of quad core Android smartphones but it's just as interesting as the most expensive model.

Priced at only Php 9,999 and arriving in September, Cherry Mobile Cosmos X is the first smartphone from a local player to flaunt a SuperAMOLED HD display made by Korean electronics giant, Samsung. This type of screen - which you can also find in Samsung Galaxy S3 and Note 2 - is particularly known for its clarity, brilliance, and brightness even when viewed under direct sunlight. So really, although Cosmos X's display is tad smaller than the IPS panel of Cherry Mobile Cosmos Z (by 0.3 inch, to be exact), it should be a lot nicer to look at.
Although its SuperAMOLED HD screen and rather low price point are obviously its biggest selling points, Cherry Mobile Cosmos X has a lot of other things going for it that should make it enticing to Pinoy gadget consumers who want to get the most bang for their buck. The Dual SIM Dual Standby device runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system with its very capable 1.2 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU and PowerVR SGX544MP GPU in MediaTek MT6589 chipset. Other specs highlights include 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot, 18 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, 8 MegaPixel front-facing cam with BSI sensor, Full HD video recorder, FM Radio, WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G HSPA+ connectivity support, and 1,800 mAh Li-Ion battery pack.
Just from looking at the specs sheet, I guess the biggest weakness of this release would have to be its rather limited uptime. (Though I'm hoping it won't be the case.) Needless to say, its large screen alone would be a true power hog so it would have been really nice if the smartphone came with at least a 2,000 mAh pack.
Nevertheless, considering that the handset only costs Php 9,999 and that you can always opt to get Cherry Mobile Cosmos X2, which addresses this issue by having a 2,200 mAh battery and even has a slightly larger display and far bigger internal storage space, for Php 11,699, I believe it should be all good.
