Solve iPhone 5 Short Battery Life Problem with Boostcase Hybrid Case : Unboxing and Quick Review

As I've said numerous times in the past, iPhone 5 is an incredible handset - probably still the best smartphone you can get these days - but it's not one without major weaknesses. And if you ask me, the most notable chink in its armor would have to be its very short uptime; less than 8 hours for me with regular use, which is terrible.

Boostcase iPhone 5 Hybrid Case has two main components; The snap-on sleeve and the battery charger.

The sleeve is very easy to install. You just have to slide the iPhone in starting with its left side, making sure that the volume buttons and switch fit the holes on the shell. Then, simply push the other side in for a snug fit.

To install the charger, make sure that the two protruding circular notches on the pack fit the holes at the back of sleeve then slide the phone down until the Lightning port connector locks neatly in place.

To check if there's still enough juice left in the pack, 'quick press' on the triangular button at the back; Green means it still holds a lot of charge, Yellow means around half of the capacity is remaining, Red means there's hardly any charge left. To charge your phone using the case (and to stop charging), simply long press on this same button. To charge the case, use any microUSB battery charger; Note that plugging it in with the iPhone installed will charge the handset fully first before it charges the case. While plugged in, I would suggest that you long press on the button once the phone's battery reaches 100% -- doing this will ensure faster charging of the case.

At the rear of the case, you will find the holes and grooves for the iPhone 5's microphone, loud speaker, and 3.5mm audio jack. Here, you'll also see the microUSB port, which you can use for charging both the phone and the case and to connect the handset to a Mac or PC.

Note that the hole for the audio jack is quite deep so you'd have to be extra careful when plugging your earphones in or when pulling it out. 

Fully charged, the battery case is capable of charging a fully drained iPhone 5 to around 70% delivering an additional 5 to 6 hours of regular use, which I think is already decent.
