Cherry Mobile Apollo Price Php 6,990, Specs, Release Date, Features : BSI Smartphone for Juan, Quietly Announced by CM
Following the formal announcement of 'Quad Core ng Bayan' Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0 last week, local electronics company Cherry Mobile has just quietly introduced Cherry Mobile Apollo via its official Facebook page.
Bearing the moniker 'BSI Smartphone for Juan', Cherry Mobile Apollo's main selling point appears to be its two powerful cameras both featuring a backside illuminated sensor. Having a BSI sensor allows the handset's 12 MegaPixel main shooter with LED flash and its 5 MegaPixel front cam (hopefully not interpolated) to take brighter, more vibrant and more crisp images even in low light conditions.
Largely because BSI sensor technology truly results in better shots indoors and in not-so-well-lit environments, "Does its cam have BSI sensor?" has become a staple question that most techie Pinoy consumers ask when purchasing their smartphones. In fact, users are now looking for this innovation not just on the main or back camera but also on the front-cam of devices as it improves the quality of selfies.
Apart from its cameras, Cherry Mobile Apollo also has other stellar features and technical specifications. The smartphone handles multitasking with 1 GB of RAM and runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system sans any custom skin with its 1.2 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 and PowerVR SGX544 based MediaTek MT6589 chipset. Dual SIM Dual Standby Apollo also sports a 4.5 inch 1280 x 800 pixels resolution HD IPS LCD, FM Radio, 4 GB of internal storage which users can expand via microSD card slot supporting up to 32 GB, 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery pack, GPS, and WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G connectivity support.
Based on the few photos we've seen of the device, CM Apollo appears to have a rather simple design language with minimal metallic accents. The shell is largely made of plastic with glazed or glossy finish similar to what we'll find on the more affordable Cherry Mobile Flare 2.0.
As yet, Cherry Mobile hasn't given us official information about this device. However, Cherry Mobile fans are informing TP that some CM stores and kiosks are now offering the smartphone to consumers for only Php 6,990.
