Nokia Lumia 2520 Tablet Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Specs, Nokia Power Keyboard Hands-On, Key Features Demo
Nokia World 2013 may have been the Finnish company's last major international event as an independent handset maker but it sure became a venue for them to announce a lot of exciting "firsts" -- perhaps to symbolize a bright, new beginning for the beloved electronics brand.
Last October 22, 2013 in Abu Dhabi, I personally witnessed the launch of Nokia Lumia 1520, Nokia first phablet flaunting a massive 6-inch Full HD display and powered by a Quad Core Snapdragon 800 processor, and this, the Nokia Lumia 2520, the company's first ever tablet.
Sure, it took Nokia more than three years to come up with an actual competitor to the Apple iPad but as soon as you hold the final product, you will feel that the wait was well worth it.
Weighing just 615 grams and measuring only 8.9 millimeters at its thickest point, LTE-capable Nokia Lumia 2520 is amazingly light and slim for a 10.1 inch tablet, making it an ideal full-sized slate for those who are always on the go.
In terms of looks and construction, what I like about Nokia Lumia 2520 is that it sports the same award-winning design language of the Lumia handset line highlighted by the sleek polycarbonate monoblock shell. Available in Red and White with glossy finish, and Cyan and Black with matte texture, the seamless enclosure doesn't only look unique and youthful but also has a reassuringly durable and solid feel in the hand.
The gorgeous back case is perfectly complemented by the super clear, crisp, and vibrant 10-inch Full HD IPS LCD panel in front supporting up to 650 nits of brightness, making it one of the brightest displays (if not the brightest) you can get on a mobile device as of writing. Such luminous screen lets Nokia Lumia 2520 owners use the slate without any issues whatsoever under direct sunlight.
Nokia Lumia 2520 smoothly runs Windows RT operating system with Nokia Lumia Black software enhancements with its powerful Quad-core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU Adreno 330 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 chipset and handles multitasking with 2GB of RAM. You get 32GB of internal storage, which you can further expand via the microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB. At the back of the slate, you will find the 6.7 MegaPixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics but without flash paired with a 2 MegaPixel front cam; The new Nokia Camera App, which came with the Nokia Lumia Black suite, allows you to make the most of these shooters by letting you play with the image settings. After taking shots, view them using the Nokia Storyteller app, which works like a Gallery replacement integrating photos with Nokia Here Maps location services.
Sold separately, the Nokia Power Keyboard transforms the Nokia Lumia 2520 into sort of a Windows laptop replacement. The keyboard replete with silicon shell for the tablet, chiclet-style keys, trackpad, a pair of USB ports, an extended battery pack mobile charger that adds around five hours to the 10-hour uptime of Nokia Lumia 2520, and matte cover which folds and wraps around the device will sell for $149 or more or less Php 6,410 when the slate along with all of its initial accessories become available later this year.
Check out the full demo video of Nokia Lumia 2520 and the Nokia Power Keyboard that I recorded in one of the hands-on booths at Nokia World 2013. You'll also get a glimpse of the new Nokia Camera application, which combines Nokia Pro Camera and Nokia Smart Cam into one interface; This application is now available as a free download on all PureView Lumia smartphones with limited functionality on phones with the Lumia Amber software update.

Nokia Lumia 2520 will have an official SRP of $499 in the United States when it becomes available there later this year. I'm guessing that it would land in the Philippines around Christmas or New Year's with price tag within the range of Php 21,000 to Php 22,000.

Nokia Power Keyboard allows you to type more quickly - thanks to the tactile keys - and it doesn't really add too much weight and bulk to the Nokia Lumia 2520 slate.
I kinda wish that the trackpad were a bit bigger and that it had a different, smoother texture than the internal matte finish of the case. Nevertheless, it gets the job done.
Bolted to the slate and folded, the Nokia Power Keyboard simply looks like a faux leather sleeve for the Nokia Lumia 2520.
