O+ Fab Nova 3G Price Php 8,995, Specs, Features : Tablet with Phone Functionality, Out Now! O+ Phablet Initial Hands-On!
Went to the Mega Sale of SM San Lazaro last Sunday afternoon and at the mall's top floor, I saw a crowd gathering around O+'s new kiosk.
I pushed and shoved my way though the mob and when I finally reached the booth, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the device that a lot of them were checking out. I haven't seen it before -- and I'm probably the biggest O+ fan you'll meet.
Apparently, the American company O+ has just quietly launched the O+ Fab Nova 3G Android phablet in the Philippines! It's the more expensive sibling of the O+ Fab 3G smartphone-tablet hybrid that I featured on TechPinas last month.
With SRP of Php 8,995, O+ Fab Nova 3G is a thousand pesos more expensive than the first Fab. But for that additional amount, you do get a more gorgeous device with slightly better technical specifications.
As you can see, O+ Fab Nova 3G's design language is largely similar to that of the Apple iPad Mini albeit lacking a metallic shell and having a smaller display. Like Apple's midrange slate, O+'s new phablet has tapered sides and even sports a home button (with + sign) below the 7-inch 1280 x 800 pixels resolution IPS display (versus the 7-inch 600 x 976 pixels TFT display on O+ Fab 3G).
Other technical specifications include a 1 GHz Dual Core ARM Cortex A7-based MediaTek MT6577 processor running Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system with stock user interface, an 8 MegaPixel autofocus main camera with BSI sensor and LED flash, a 2 MegaPixel front cam, 8GB of expandable internal storage (5.5 GB user available), HD video recorder, FM Radio, Dual SIM Dual Standby capability, and WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity support.
As yet, we've yet to hear from O+ on the exact capacity of Nova's battery, which off hand, looks non-removable. (Update: According to a trusted source, O+ Fab Nova 3G is powered by a 2,800 mAh Li-Ion battery versus the 3,000 mAh pack running O+ Fab 3G.) We're also excited to know which accessories and items come with the package, as O+ is known to bundle lots of freebies with their products.
TP Friends, here's a quick initial hands-on video of O+ Fab Nova 3G that I recorded during SM San Lazaro's Mega Sale. Pardon the quality -- I had to do it really fast as a lot of other O+ fans were lined up behind me waiting eagerly to have their turn and play with the phablet.
O+ Fab Nova 3G is now available at all O+ Kiosks and partner retailers nationwide. Again, its official price is Php 8,995 -- and having played with the phablet, for that amount, I think it's already sulit.
