MyPhone Iceberg Mini Price, Specs, Features, Release Date O% Monthly Installment Promo Details
Local handset company, MyPhone, is now officially employing the same marketing strategy of international electronics giants Samsung and HTC in selling its Android smartphones -- but with a twist.
Similar to Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and HTC One Mini, which are both reduced or reductive versions of Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One respectively, the freshly and quietly announced MyPhone Iceberg Mini is the smaller version of the company's flagship smartphone this year, the popular MyPhone Iceberg released last July 26, 2013. However, unlike those two devices, Icerberg Mini - amazingly - has better innards than its larger sibling.
Despite being smaller than the 5.7-inch Iceberg flagship release, according to reports from our readers - 5-inch MyPhone Iceberg Mini will don a more expensive price tag than the former. MyPhone Iceberg Mini will retail for Php 12,888, which is Php 900 more expensive than the Php 11,988 official suggested retail price of MyPhone Iceberg.
The Mini versions' higher price tag could be explained by the fact that - apart from its smaller screen size- it has better overall technical specifications compared to the regular-sized Iceberg. In fact, although Mini's IPS OGS LCD - underneath its scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 2 touchscreen - is 0.7 inches smaller diagonally, it nonetheless has a higher Full HD resolution, which makes it far more clear and crisp than the 720p HD display resolution of the bigger flagship.
Likewise, MyPhone Iceberg Mini has better innards. The handset runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system sans any custom skin with its Quad Core 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and 357 MHz PowerVR SGX544 GPU based MediaTek MT6589T processor and handles multitasking with 2GB of RAM. In contrast, MyPhone Iceberg runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean OS with but a Quad Core 1.2 GHz MT6589 SoC and only has 1GB of RAM. Naturally, this would mean that the Mini will have higher benchmarks compared to the regular release.
In terms of other features and technical specs, the two phones are more or less the same. As I've shared on TP, MyPhone Iceberg has a 5 MegaPixel front-facing camera, 12 MegaPixel autofocus main camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, 1080p video recorder, 16GB of internal storage, and WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G HSPA+ connectivity support. Almost similarly, MyPhone Iceberg Mini flaunts a 5 MegaPixel front cam with BSI, 13 MegaPixel autofocus main camera with LED flash and backside illuminated sensor, 1080p video recorder, 16GB (12.5 GB user available) of non-expandable internal storage, plus WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and 3G HSPA+ connectivity support. Note that Dual MicroSIM, Dual 3G Standby Mini has a smaller 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery versus the 2,600 mAh pack of the larger Iceberg but considering that the Mini is generally less power-hungry, their uptime should be just about the same.
