Starmobile Engage 9i Price, Specs, Release Date, Features : Early 2014 Intel Atom Powered 8.9-Inch Android Flagship Tablet
Today, local electronics company Happy Man - maker of Starmobile devices - officially introduced its flagship Android tablet for the first quarter of 2014.
Starmobile Engage 9i comes replete with decent technical specifications and cool multimedia features. Users get an 8.9 inch widescreen display with WUXGA or 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution and 245 ppi pixel density, 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera at the back, 2 MegaPixel fixed focus front cam, 1080p 30fps video recorder, USB OTG support, and 16 GB of internal storage expandable via microSD card slot. All of which are encased in a gorgeous and premium-looking shell flaunting edge-to-edge glass front, aluminum side frame, and hard plastic back plate.
But really, what makes Starmobile Engage 9i a flagship-level device are its powerhouse innards. The slate runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system sans any custom skin with a Dual-core 2 GHz Intel Atom Z2580 Clovertrail+ CPU with Hyperthreading Technology and 533 MHz PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU delivering a very smooth gaming and overall touch experience -- more or less comparable to what the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset of Samsung Galaxy S4 gives. Likewise, the tablet efficiently handles multitasking with its 2 GB of RAM.
For those who are wondering, Intel Atom Z2580 is the chipset maker's new high-end processor for mobile devices. It has two cores and four threads, and supports key innovations by the company like Intel Hyper-Threading Technology, Intel Virtualization Technology (VT-x), Idle States, Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology, Thermal Monitoring Technologies, Intel HD Audio Technology and Intel Smart Idle Technology. Additionally, the SoC's 533 MHz PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU is comparable to the Apple iPhone 5's SGX543 graphics chip but it adds Direct3D 9_3 support.
So when will it be available and how much will it cost? According to our friends from Starmobile, the Engage 9i will hit store shelves across the country sometime during the first week of February 2014 with official suggested retail price of only Php 9,990, which - if you ask me - is already very affordable for a device running on the said processor.
