Cherry Mobile Titan Pro Price, Specs, Release Date, Features : CM's Answer to the Samsung Galaxy Note Phablet Line
Given that Cherry Mobile has a knack for pulling off wonderful surprises for the media during product launches, your guess is as good as mine on just how many devices the local electronics giant will announce at tomorrow's #WeAreOnFire event. (Remember the surprise unveiling of Cherry Mobile Flame 2.0 last year?)
Last week, though, CM posted a teaser for a new, yet-to-be-released smartphone on its official page, suggesting that it could very well be one of the devices - if not the only product - to be launched on February 4.
As yet, Cherry Mobile hasn't really disclosed any official information about its upcoming Cherry Mobile Titan Pro phablet -- except for its design and that it will come with a fine-tip stylus called Gesture Pen or G Pen and software which supports the accessory that's similar to Samsung's S Note.
According to our insiders who have chosen to remain anonymous, Cherry Mobile Titan Pro will run Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with a 1.3 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU and 500 MHz Mali-400 MP2 GPU based MediaTek MT6582 SoC (kindly scroll down to see updates from the media launch regarding the chipset) and will handle multitasking with 1 GB of RAM. Apart from the G Pen, the phablet will also flaunt a 5-inch 720 x 1280 pixels HD display and a 12 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash at the back. As for connectivity, the device supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G HSPA+.
Off hand, I think what's particularly special about this release is that it will be the first handset from a local player to come with this kind of stylus. CM's rivals have launched similar phablets but they had styli with thick rubber tips which aren't really made for handwriting or drawing on a capacitive glass touchscreen display. Cherry Mobile Titan Pro's G Pen as well as the software that goes with it is probably the closest thing to Samsung's S-Pen and S-Note that we'll get from a local company thus far.
So how much will it cost and when will it available for purchase? Our source told us that CM Titan Pro will come with an official suggested price of roughly Php 10,999. He said that it will be announced by Cherry Mobile tomorrow, February 4, 2014, and it should hit store shelved across the country within this month.
Update as of 3PM, February 4, 2014: I've just arrived home from Cherry Mobile's #WeAreOnFire event held at Hyatt Hotel in Manila. The company announced three phones and as I was expecting, Cherry Mobile Titan Pro was one of them.
As you can see in these photos, the specifications that were disclosed to us last weekend were pretty accurate except for details on the chipset. Apparently, Cherry Mobile Titan Pro will run on 1.2 GHz Quad Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU and 286 MHz PowerVR SGX544 GPU based MediaTek MT6589 SoC instead of newer MT6582. We've got all other details correctly including the Php 10,999 official price tag.

Mr. Marco Solomon, Product Training Head of Cherry Mobile, gave a quick a rundown of Cherry Mobile Titan Pro's technical specifications during the phablet's official announcement.
