Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Specs, Features
Last week, Samsung officially announced the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, a powerhouse phablet running on the Korean company's new Hexa-Core Exynos 5260 chipset, which integrates a Quad-Core 1.3 GHz Cortex A7 plus Dual-Core 1.7 GHz Cortex A15 CPU and has Mali-T624 GPU.
Just from looking at its design identity and technical specifications, it appears that the SGNote3Neo is the intermediate phablet in between Samsung Galaxy Note2 from 2012 and Samsung Galaxy Note3 released in October of last year.
Looks-wise, it has the same rounded design language of the SGNote2 but it also flaunts the textured, journal-inspired plastic back cover and grooved faux metal side plate of the SGNote3. SGNote3Neo's 5.5-inch 720 x 1280 pixels SuperAMOLED HD display, Full HD video recorder, and 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera at the back are almost if not exactly like that of the flagship from 2012 -- albeit the fresher release offers all these in a slimmer and lighter package.
In terms of power, it's right in between the two flagship Notes -- at least, when we look at their Antutu benchmark scores. Samsung Galaxy Note 3 running Android 4.4 KitKat with its Quad Core Krait 400 based Snapdragon 800 SoC and 3G of RAM gets a score in the area of 34,800 to 35,000, 17,000 to 17,500 for the Exynos 4412 Quad powered SGNote2, while the Hexa-Core Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo with 2GB of RAM - according to reports - gets an Antutu Benchmark score in the area of 29,000 to 29,800. I guess this pretty much proves that having more cores doesn't particularly make a chipset more powerful than those with less cores.
When will it be released and how much will it cost in the Philippines? We've yet to hear from Samsung Mobile Philippines on the availability of this phablet. Nonetheless, considering that our country is always one of the first to get fresh releases from Samsung and that SGNote3Neo has just been launched in some territories in Europe, I'm expecting to land here within this month or early in March. As for the SRP, our guesstimate is around Php 30,500 for the LTE version -- and that's based on its official price tag of 499 Euros in Germany upon launch.

SGNote3Neo sports a microUSB 2.0 port like that of SGNote2 compared to SGNote3 which has a microUSB 3.0 port. The latter is faster but you can use the cables and chargers of your other Android smartphones with the former.
