Gionee Elife E7 Philippines Price, Complete Specs, Features, Release Date, In the Flesh Photos, Initial Impressions
Yesterday, after weeks of seeing posters in malls across Mega Manila promoting the brand, I finally got the chance to play with a Gionee smartphone -- and a fresh flagship one at that, the Gionee Elife E7.
A lot you have been emailing, tweeting, and DMing me questions about handsets from this Chinese manufacturer and I admit that I evaded most of them as I haven't really had experience with these devices.
Hopefully, starting today, I'd be able to review and feature more Gionee smartphones to help you become more familiar with them. After all, the Chinese OEM has started to become more active in releasing products in the Philippines via their official and exclusive distributor in the country, Belexis Concepts Inc.
"What sets Gionee smartphones apart from all others is their great design, powerful camera, and internal specifications," Mr. Bangayan told me. And I think Gionee Elife E7, the company's current top-of-the-line release is a true testament to that.
When you see Gionee Elife E7 in the flesh for the first time, the two things you'll notice immediately are its brilliant and crisp 5.5 inch Full HD IPS OGS display and its glossy polycarbonate monoblock shell. And when you hold it, you will certainly be impressed by its lightness and the durable feel of its very slim body.
For a 5.5-inch smartphone, it's really amazing that Gionee Elife E7 weighs only 150 grams and measures just 9.5 millimeters at its thickest point. In fact, if the camera module weren't protruding, I believe the device would be a lot thinner on paper.
This gorgeous exterior is matched by the powerhouse hardware inside the shell. The phone runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS skinned by the company's sleek Amigo UI with its Quad Core 2.2 GHz Krait 400 CPU and Adreno 330 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8274 Snapdragon 800 SoC -- similar to the processor of the 2013 TechPinas Badge of Excellence Awardee, Samsung Galaxy Note 3. E7, which is powered by a non-removable 2,500 Li-po battery pack, also handles multitasking with 2GB of RAM and has a rather sizable 16 GB of internal storage.
But according to Gionee, the real highlight or main selling point of this flagship release would have to be its main camera at the back. This shooter features OmniVision's new 1/2.3-inch OV16825 CameraChip sensor, which is capable of operating in full resolution video at 30 frames-per-second (FPS), 4K2K (3840 x 2160) video at 60 FPS, and 1080p Full HD video at 60 FPS with extra pixels for electronic image stabilization (EIS). On top of that, the sensor features an on-chip scaler, and supports 16 MegaPixel high-speed photography, allowing users to capture multiple high-resolution frames in rapid succession. The sensor’s 1.34-micron OmniBSI-2 pixel is likewise expected to deliver exceptional low-light performance.
This stellar camera module is perfectly complemented by Gionee's unique and intuitive camera software, which lets you meticulously tweak the settings to fit the lighting condition and help you capture the perfect shot. This stunning combination of imaging capabilities - I think - really makes Gionee Elife E7 worthy of its product slogan, "Made for Shooting." Right now, I'm just greatly looking forward to taking the device's camera for a spin.
TP Friends, Gionee Elife E7 is now available at Belexis Concept Inc.'s official retail partners nationwide. The official suggested retail price of the handset - that you can get in two colors, namely, Black and White - is Php 24,500, which I think already low for a device having such innards, display, and imaging features.

It was my pleasure to meet and have a chat with Mr. Michael Bangayan, President and CEO of Belexis Concepts Inc., during the media launch of Gionee Elife E7 held yesterday - March 30, 2014 - at the activity center of the SM Mall of Asia. I will post the video of our conversation soonest and I hope you can check it out.
