SKK Kraken Octa Core Android Smartphone Specs and Press Photo Unveiled on Facebook
SKK Mobile may not be as big as its local contemporaries Cherry Mobile, Starmobile, and MyPhone but whatever it lacks in size, it makes up for its drive to get a decent share in the market with its very competitive and aggressive pricing strategy.
As a response to its rivals' recent Octa Core releases, today, SKK Mobile unveiled its own flagship handset powered by the 1.7 GHz Octa Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU and Mali-450 GPU based MediaTek MT6592 SoC.
Introduced on Facebook just a few hours ago, SKK Kraken - which appears to have the same front design as that of Samsung Galaxy S3 - runs Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean operating system with the above-mentioned true Octa Core chipset. The processor is complemented by 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage that can be expanded using the microSD card slot that supports up to 32 GB.
Other key features of the Dual SIM Dual Standby handset include the 5-inch FWVGA LCD display, 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 5 MegaPixel front cam, and Full HD video recorder. In terms of connectivity, the device supports WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G HSPA+. No word yet on the exact battery size.
Obviously, SKK Kraken's screen, imaging capabilities, RAM, and ROM are inferior compared to that of Cherry Mobile Cosmos Z2, Starmobile Octa, and MyPhone Infinity, which have all been featured on TechPinas previously. Considering this and the fact that SKK always gives their devices the absolute lowest price tag to better compete with other brands, I'm expecting SKK Kraken to have a more affordable SRP compared to these other Octa Core Pinoy phones.
As of writing, SKK Mobile hasn't disclosed the official suggested retail price of Kraken. However, this Facebook post - I believe - gives us a hint about the handset's price when it gets launched within a week or two. "Eights coming... the Octa-core SKK Kraken will be arriving really soon. 8x the core, 8x the speed, 8x the fun.. .the SKK Kraken, it's coming!" So will it be Php 8,888?! We're not sure yet. But looking at the device's technical specifications, I think that should be fair enough.
