Wargaming Asia PVP Super Friends from Philippines and New Zealand Places 4th at Wargaming.Net League Grand Finals
Let’s celebrate! Wargaming Asia is proud to celebrate the fourth placing of its regional team, the PVP Super Friends, at the Wargaming.net League Grand Finals 2013 that concluded just a couple of weeks back.
PVP Super Friends, whose members hail from the Philippines and New Zealand, ranked among the world’s 14 best World of Tanks team who earned their spots to compete at the Grand Finals. The second Asian team from Hong Kong, U Are Dead, also performed at their personal best during the inaugural global tournament.
“Wargaming Asia was set up just two years ago, and almost all the other teams in the Grand Finals were far more experienced than our Asian teams,” said Mr. Jasper Nicolas, General Manager of Wargaming Asia. “PVP Super Friends and U Are Dead blew us away with their outstanding performances despite going up against some of the most feared teams from the CIS region, Europe and North America. We are extremely proud of our Asian teams, especially of PvP Superfriends for coming in fourth, against all the odds!”
Despite being initially defeated by this year’s grand champion NA’VI, the PVP Super Friends went on to display creative and positive tactics to beat ARETE from South Korea during their second round in the losers bracket. And in their heart-pumping third round against Fnatic from North America, they turned the game around within the last few minutes, toppling their competitors with a score of 3:2.
Even though the PvP Superfriends finally conceded to The RED Rush: Unity during their fourth and final match, they had already won hearts around the world from competitors and tournament viewers alike.
With the conclusion of the Wargaming.net League Grand Finals 2013, both PvP Super Friends and U Are Dead have put Asia on the map, demonstrating true professional eSports talent and unbeatable champion spirits. Congratulations, PVP Superfriends! The Philippines is proud of you!
