A Mother's Day Surprise for My Mom with Electrolux : Spending Time and Having Fun Together in the Kitchen on Her Special Day
I think you'll agree with me when I say that time is the best thing that we can give to the people we love. After all, there's no amount of money, material things or gifts that can replace or match the value of the time we spend with the people who matter to us.
This Mother's Day, my younger brother - Val of BallersPinas - and I decided to take time off our busy schedules as bloggers and businessmen to surprise our beloved Mommy Alita and spend time with her cooking in the kitchen like we used to when we were young. This year, however, we are doing it with a special partner to make the event even more wonderful: Electrolux!
My mom is an assistant librarian and a guidance counselor but cooking has always been her main passion in life -- apart from being a great mom to us, of course. From the day we were born until now, our family has been consistently nourished by my mom's healthy cooking. Her specialties? Kare-Kare and Caldereta! Let me tell you: I've eaten many, many renditions of these dishes from the best restaurants across the country and I can objectively and honestly say that my mom cooks the best Kare-Kare and Caldereta -- barnone!
I can still remember the days when my brother and I were still in grade school and we would join our mom in cooking various viands and preparing desserts. She practically taught us how to cook from an early age -- though, I think we'll never really surpass her cooking skills even if we tried. Obviously, I'm my mom's biggest fan -- just like how she always tells me that she is my biggest fan.
These days, however, because of my very demanding schedule as a technology blogger and digital marketing consultant for various companies here and outside the country - my days and nights packed with meetings, events, and conference calls - and my brother's busy sched as a sports blogger and sporting goods and accessories seller, we rarely if at all have the time to be together in the kitchen and cook up some magic like we used to.
So I thought, this Mother's Day, we really have to be with mommy in the place she loves most - the kitchen - yet again and make her feel that she is important to us and that we will always be there for her even if we are no longer little boys and we're now all grown up. I'm sure that, for other families, being together in the kitchen is nothing new as it happens on a daily basis -- but for us, this is very nostalgic and very special.
To set-up the surprise, I told my mom the other night that I need her help for a video blog that I'm doing about cooking with the aid of an Apple iPad. My mom has always been very supportive of me as a tech blogger so I totally expected her to agree and help me with it -- which, of course, she did.
What she didn't know was that my younger brother will also join us and that we'll actually be cooking together as a family! I'm sure it's one of the things that she wishes she could still do with us and I wanted it to be more special by bringing in and using my new Electrolux ETD 28KS Induction Cooker, which is light and portable and really makes cooking more safe and convenient.
TP Friends, I got the whole surprise on video and, since all of you are already family to me, I'm sharing it with you. I hope you can check out the clip: It's special to me.
As you'll see in the video, we wrapped up our Mother's Day surprise by eating dinner - the Stir-Fried Chicken with Vegetables that we cook using the Electrolux Induction Cooker - together.
While we were cleaning the table and washing the dishes after dinner, mom told me and my brother that she was very happy with our humble surprise. That meant a lot to me because that's all I really wanted her to feel on this occasion.
I love you, mommy! Whatever success me and my brother enjoy now, it's because you loved us so much and rooted for us with all your heart. Thank you for your wonderful cooking and thank you just for being our amazing mom!
Thank you, Electrolux, for helping make our Mother's Day surprise and celebration really memorable!
