Zopo Android Smartphones Coming To The Philippines via Novo7Tech Soon!
Novo7Tech, the official and exclusive distributor of THL smartphones in the Philippines, is expanding their business by bringing in another challenger Android handset brand from China, Zopo from Shenzhen!
In a meeting that I had with our friends from the company last week, they gave me an exclusive first look at their upcoming Zopo ZP998 Octa Core phone, which flaunts a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS OGS display underneath scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 2 touchscreen, a 14 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 5 MegaPixel front cam, and removable 2,400 mAh battery pack.
"Mark, this phone is actually one of the first in the world to run on the MediaTek MT6592 True Octa Core chipset -- so it's a landmark device. That processor is nicely complemented by 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM that can be expanded via microSD card slot. We hope your readers and all Pinoy gadget fans would like it," they told me.
Apart from the ZP998 flagship, Novo7Tech will also be releasing the ZP1000 OctaCore Gold that has a thinner form factor and real metal enclosure but only has 1 GB of RAM, and comes with a smaller 5-inch HD IPS display. More about these devices on TechPinas soon! So stay tuned, TP Friends!
Zopo, what?! Born in 2012, Shenzhen ZOPO Communications Equipment Limited Company is - obviously - a very young and fresh tech player from China that specializes in research and development, production, marketing, distribution, and service of "mobile intelligent terminal products" including smartphones. It currently has operations and official distributors in various territories around the world including Russia, Poland, Netherlands, and Germany.
So how much will these powerhouse devices cost, you ask? Well, according to our friends from Novo7Tech, "We are known for releasing smartphones with great specs but very affordable price tags. We did that for THL and we are also doing it for Zopo. These aren't the final SRP's yet but we're considering around Php 15,000 for Zopo ZP998 and roughly Php 14,000 for ZP1000 OctaCore Gold when we finally launch them within May 2014." I answered, "I wish they'd be even more affordable so more Pinoy consumers will be able to purchase them." Let's see if they'll make my wish come true.

The back cover of the handset has a faux leather finish reminiscent of that of Samsung Galaxy Note 3 albeit without the side-stitch imprint. On the other hand, the device's glossy plastic rim provides an interesting contrast to the rear's almost matte look.
