Cherry Mobile Nova 2 Price Php 3,899, Specs, In the Flesh Photos : Affordable Quad Core Android Smartphone with 1 GB of RAM, 4-inch IPS Display
I consider Cherry Mobile Nova 2 to be the slightly more powerful version of Cherry Mobile Life 2.0 - running on the same quad core processor and having almost similar imaging capabilities albeit sporting improved specs overall - but it's also a tad more expensive.
Whereas CM Life 2.0 dons an SRP of Php 3,299 making it the most affordable quad core Android smartphone in the Philippines as of writing, CM Nova 2 sells for Php 600 more and for that additional amount you already get a slew of neat enhancements and features.
On the outside, Cherry Mobile Nova 2 flaunts a 4-inch IPS WVGA display, an 8 MegaPixel fixed focus camera with LED flash (versus autofocus on CM Life 2.0), HD video recorder, and 0.3 MegaPixel front cam. Lifting the glossy back cover, we'll find the 1,500 mAh Li-Ion battery pack and the two slots of SIM cards. As for connectivity, the phone supports WiFi, Bluetooth, and 3G HSPA+.
Inside the shell, the device runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system with its Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Adreno 302 based Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 processor. This SoC is complemented by 1 GB of RAM, which is a step up from just 512 MB on Cherry Mobile Life 2.0. The internal storage is just the same at 4 GB and it's also expandable via microSD card slot supporting up to 32 GB.
GPS-enabled Cherry Mobile Nova 2 - just like many other upcoming Android handsets from the company - is a product of Cherry Mobile's stronger partnership with chipset-maker Qualcomm. As you all know, Qualcomm's rival - MediaTek - has greatly taken off and dominated the entry-level and midrange smartphone echelons in the past two years -- thanks to its strong alliance with OEMs from China and India. It appears Qualcomm intends to counter that by releasing more affordable yet powerful SoCs including the Quad Core Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 that powers CM Nova 2 and by revitalizing its ties with phone brands both local and international.
Selling for Php 3,899 at all CM Concept Stores, Kiosks, and partner retailers across the archipelago, Cherry Mobile Nova 2 - I would say - is ideal for consumers who want to experience Android on a very affordable phone with crisp display, moderately powerful processor, decent imaging features, and enough RAM for smooth multitasking. It's an entry-level smartphone so keep your expectations in check -- especially in terms of battery life. But for the amount you'll be shelling out for it, I think CM Nova 2 looks cute enough and is already well-equipped so as not to make you feel shortchanged in any way.

One of the downsides of a svelte glossy back cover: It's a fingerprint magnet.

Check out the chrome accent running down the sides of the phone. It's similar to what you'll find on Samsung Galaxy S3 and the first generation Samsung Galaxy Grand.
