Nokia X2 Dual SIM Android Smartphone Price, Full Specs, Features : Nokia X2 vs. Nokia X vs. XL Specs Comparison Table
Nokia X and Nokia XL Android smartphones are now doing very well in the Philippines -- so there's a big chance that Microsoft Mobile would also bring the next iteration to its line of Android-powered handset line to the country.
Quietly unveiled today via various online channels, Nokia X2 Dual SIM is the proper follow-up to Nokia X, which allowed entry-level consumers to experience Google's Android operating system heavily-skinned by Microsoft's tile-laden Nokia Software Platform UI on a handset bearing the legendary gene of durability found in all releases - past and present - of the Finnish company.
Just like the gorgeous Nokia Asha 502 and 503, Nokia X2 flaunts a seamless monobody case and showcases a new approach to the design of the exchangeable back covers that fuses a brightly colored core with a translucent outer layer; The overall result is a durable device that appears lit from within. The Nokia X2 will be available at launch in glossy Orange, Black, and Green -- with glossy Yellow, White and matte Dark Grey coming later to the lineup.
Compared to its predecessor, Nokia X2 has the same screen size and resolution but has a more powerful processor - the Dual Core 1 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Adreno 302 GPU based Qualcomm MSM8210 Snapdragon 200 SoC, to be exact, has improved imaging capabilities headlined by the 5 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, VGA front cam, and HD 720p video recorder, and has more RAM. For a full specs comparison of Nokia X2 versus Nokia X and Nokia XL, kindly check Nokia's official table at the bottom of this post.
According to Microsoft Mobile, "The Nokia X2 delivers an even more intuitive, smoother user experience powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor [...] and 1 GB of RAM. The Nokia X2 debuts the next-generation Nokia X Software Platform 2.0 and major enhancements to the user interface. People can choose between three types of screens to facilitate navigation: the colorful Home with resizable tiles; Fastlane to access recent apps and future calendar items; and a new Lumia-Inspired Apps list, from which people can pin items to the home screen. A Pull-down Notifications Tab also allows people to glance at connectivity options as well as actionable items, such as software updates available for download. A new home key and visual multitasking (that's absent on both Nokia X and XL upon launch) complete the experience."
As for applications and games, Nokia X2 will ship with pre-installed third-party titles such as LINE Ranger, Brewster and Findery. WeChat, Instagram, Skype, Benji Bananas Adventures and many more are already available for download on the redesigned and easy-to-navigate Nokia Store — the place for finding the highest-quality Android apps for the Nokia X family.
I'm a Nokia X owner and off hand, just from looking at the photos of Nokia X2 and its official specs table, I'm very excited! I like that the X2 camera has an autofocus lens (which isn't the case on Nokia X) and they even added an LED flash for improved low light performance. But what I really want to see is the new version of Nokia X Software Platform with visual multitasking, which a lot of users - who upgraded to Nokia X from an Android phone by other brands - missed. I guess Nokia tried to replace the default Android multitasking panel with Fastlane but many users didn't get it outright.
Anyway, Nokia X is already set to be launched in emerging markets come July 2014 with SRP of only 99 Euros. I'm expecting it to land in the Philippines by early Q3 2014 with price tag of around Php 5,990 or similar to the introductory SRP of Nokia X earlier this year.
Update as of August 22, 2014: Nokia X2 is now available in the Philippines. It sells for Php 6,990 and you can get it in three colors, namely, Black, Glossy Green, and Glossy Orange.
