Asus ZenFone 5 Philippines Price Php 6,495, Full Specs, Antutu Benchmark Score, Release Date
Launched in the Philippines alongside Asus ZenFone 4 and 6 via an exclusive media event held at The Hyve Bar in Taguig City last June 17, 2014, Asus ZenFone 5 brings 2014 high-end smartphone specifications to the midrange price echelon.
With official SRP of Php 6,495, the ZenFone 5 is poised to go head to head with upper midrange offerings by our local handset players and could very well face stiff competition from Xiaomi Redmi Note when the Chinese company finally releases the Octa Core phablet in Pinas a few weeks from now.
But does the Asus ZenFone 5 have enough stellar selling points to take them all down? I think, in terms of design, it's one of the best in this price range; The non-removable 2,110 mAh battery pack greatly helped keep the device rather slim -- measuring 10.3 millimeters at its thickest point. There's also enough metallic gleam to give the phone an air of corporate sophistication.
But it's in the display, imaging, and internal specifications departments where Asus ZenFone 5 truly stands out. The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD IPS display - underneath scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 3 and featuring GloveTouch innovation - that should look great regardless of the viewing angle and an 8MP PixelMaster camera that - according to Asus - delivers crystal clear daytime photos, vivid night photos, and videos up to 400% brighter. Steady shots are also guaranteed with image stabilization.
Under the hood, ZenFone 5 is powered by a Dual Core 1.6 GHz PowerVR SGX544MP2 GPU based Intel Atom Z2560 chipset with Hyperthreading Technology, 2 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of storage that you can beef up using the microSD card slot supporting up to 64 GB. The handset also comes with 5 GB of free lifetime Asus WebStorage. The above-mentioned innards combine to give the handset an Antutu Benchmark score in the area of 18,214.
As I've shared earlier, Intel's Hyperthreading technology uses processor resources more efficiently, enabling multiple threads to run on each core. As a performance feature, it also increases processor output and improving overall performance on threaded software.
The Asus ZenFone 5 runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system - `with planned upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat - heavily skinned by the Taiwanese company's very own Zen user interface. According to Asus, "The ZenUI was built to be functional first and foremost, but it also had to have elegance and beauty. It's simple and intuitive, but also smart as it helps you to keep track of your life. The ASUS ZenUI user experience is based on the concept of design thinking: technology built to match your needs. Every time you use the phone, you feel that you are at the center of everything. It's designed just for you."
Asus ZenFone 5 is slated to become available at Lazada and Asus' official retail partners within the next few weeks. Again, it will sell for just Php 6,495 -- and you will be able to get it in five colors, namely, Twilight Purple, Charcoal Black, Cherry Red, Champagne Gold, and Pearl White.
