Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ Philippines Price, Full Specs, Antutu Benchmark Score, Features
I bet many of you remember Alcatel as that phone brand from the late 90's to the early 2000's that released what became popular then as the "Safeguard" phone? Do you remember that, TP Friends?
Well, the French electronics company has come a long, long way from those days of old and has successfully managed to position itself as a serious contender in the Android smartphones race across many territories around the world -- including the Philippines.
Last July 30, 2014 - at MetroWalk in Pasig City - Alcatel Mobile Philippines launched its newest powerhouse flagship smartphone in the country, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+.
Measuring only 7.9 millimeters at its thickest point and flaunting a 5-inch Full HD IPS OGS display panel underneath scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass 2 touchscreen, the Idol X+ represents the very best of what Alcatel currently has to offer to consumers in terms of handset design, features, and technical specifications.
Looking very much like a love child of Samsung Galaxy S4 and Apple iPhone 5S (at least because of the rows of speaker holes at the rear), Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+'s attractive shell comes replete with a glossy black plate donning a distinguishing swirl pattern and a thick brushed faux metal accent running down its sides.
Features-wise, the Idol X+ is equipped with a 13.1 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash, 2 MegaPixel front cam for selfies, Full HD 30fps video recorder, a non-removable 2,500 mAh Li-Ion battery pack, and - to complement the handset's notable audio software enhancements - it ships with free JBL earphones.
The smartphone also supports accessories like Alcatel Home V101, which is a a palm-sized TV-link based on Miracast technology, allowing you to easily stream all the contents of your Idol X+ on a bigger TV screen wirelessly, and the Smart Boomband, a wearable that lets you know immediately - via blinking lights - when you receive messages and other notifications on your handset.
Under the hood, Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean with almost vanilla user interface with its 2 GHz Octa Core ARM Cortex A7 CPU and Mali 450 GPU based MT6592 SoC. I believe this handset is the first of its kind in the Philippines to be powered by this updated version of MediaTek's true octa core chipset.
Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ is now available at all Alcatel stores and partner retailers nationwide. It's out in two colors - White and Black - and you can get it with the free JBL headphones for Php 18,990. The Alcatel Smart Boomband, on the other hand, sells for Php 1,900. Price of TV-Link Alcatel Home V101, to follow.

Combined with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of non-expandable internal storage, this system on chip gives Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+ an Antutu Benchmark Score in the area of 28,460.
My friend and fellow tech blogger, Reggie Ramos - who was introduced as Alcatel's brand ambassador during the event - gave a talk on the history of Alcatel's operations in the Philippines as well as the key features of OneTouch Idol X+ and its main accessories. He was later joined by Ms. Jeck Marcelo - Marketing Manager of Alcatel Mobile Philippines - in answering questions asked by bloggers and the local media.
The media launch was a smashing success! Cheers!
