Cherry Mobile Flare 3 Price Php 3,999, Full Specs, Initial Impressions, Features, In the Flesh
Remember the Dual Core Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 from 2012? That's the first phablet to ever be released in the market and back then, that device had an SRP in the Philippines in the area of Php 36,000 upon launch.
Fast forward to July 30, 2014, local electronics giant Cherry Mobile officially announces its "Phablet ng Bayan" Cherry Mobile Flare 3 with price tag of only Php 3,999!
Economies of scale, fierce competition, and the incredibly fast pace of tech advancements are driving the prices of gadgets from electronics companies employing 'bandwagon effect' in their marketing strategies lower than ever. But the good thing is that the quality of releases also continues to improve year after year.
Cherry Mobile Flare 3 - as its very name suggests - is the third iteration to CM's highly popular entry-level Flare line, which has become known for giving consumers decent technical specifications for a very low price.
You can say that the Flare Series truly allows budget-conscious Pinoy gadget fans to experience all the benefits of a smartphone having decent features and specs without having to break the bank.
As I've explained on TechPinas, a phablet is basically a hybrid between a tablet and a smartphone -- giving you a large display akin to that of a slate along with the ease of use and portability of a phone. For Cherry Mobile, any handset having a 5-inch display and larger is considered a phablet -- and currently, Cherry Mobile Flare 3 is the most affordable model in that category.
Actually, as all hardcore CM fans know, "Omega" is the name of the company's phablet series; Which leads one to ask, "Why doesn't this model release bear the Omega moniker?" Well, your guess is as good as mine. I believe it's because its extremely affordable price point is a bigger selling point for this device more so than its sizable display.
According to CM, "Undoubtedly the best handset at the same price point, the new Flare 3 gives users the sophisticated design and optimum performance of a premium phablet at an affordable price. Touted as the 'Best Flare Ever', it is also on track on becoming one of the best android phones in the market today with its features – including an improved aesthetic design that resembles higher priced handsets." I completely agree. Apart from the brilliant 5-inch qHD IPS OGS display underneath scratch-resistant glass, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, and the smooth touch response and screen transitions made possible by the Quad Core MediaTek MT6582 chipset, I'm particularly impressed with how gorgeous the device looks -- thanks to its svelte, swappable back cover. This is a phone that looks far more expensive than it actually is.
Other key technical specifications include 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage, microSD card slot supporting up to 32 GB, 8 MegaPixel autofocus camera with LED flash and BSI sensor, 2 MegaPixel fixed focus front cam, 3G HSPA+ mobile connectivity support, Dual SIM (micro and regular mini) Dual Standby capability, and the 2,000 mAh Li-Ion battery pack.
Cherry Mobile Flare 3 officially became available nationwide today - August 2, 2014 - at all Cherry Mobile Concept Stores, kiosks, and partner retailers across the Philippines. Again, it sells for only Php 3,999 and you can get it in four colors with glossy finish, namely, Red, Blue, Silver, and White, and one in matte, the equally attractive Black variant.

My favorite Flare 3 color options are Blue and Red, which both have high-gloss sports car finish.
