Sony Xperia C3 Philippines Price and Release Date Guesstimate, Full Specs : Selfie Phone with Front Flash
On November 19, 2013, "Selfie" was declared Oxford Dictionaries' Word of the Year 2013 as it "has attracted a great deal of interest during that year to date. Language research conducted by Oxford Dictionaries editors reveals that the frequency of the word selfie in the English language has increased by 17,000% since that time last year."
I love taking selfies. Heck, almost all of my friends love taking photos of themselves too. Needless to say, "Selfie" continues to be a global phenomenon -- so much so that smartphone companies now include it as a consumer requirement when designing and crafting their upcoming releases.
One such device is the Sony Xperia C3, which is new LTE-enabled Android smartphone specifically made for taking selfies and social sharing as it incorporates the legendary Japanese company’s leading digital imaging technology and interactive camera apps.
Sony Xperia C3 is capable producing perfect selfies wherever, whenever -- thanks to its 5 MegaPixel wide-angle front camera (25mm with 80 degree field of view) that allows you to capture more of yourself, your friends, and the background in one frame. Flaunting a unique soft flash for the camera in front, users can take flattering photos day or night by simply double tapping the back cover or using Smile Shutter (but, of course, there's always the hardware camera button), which you can then share with friends in social networking sites with just three clicks. With the front camera’s Superior Auto mode, pictures are automatically edited and enhanced for suitable lighting conditions and the auto scene recognition function, which works together with HDR and LED flash, makes sure you can capture the best selfies and selfie videos regardless of the lighting condition.
On the software side, Sony Xperia C3 comes pre-loaded with selfie camera apps. There's AR effect that incorporates themes letting you quickly add fun animations and graphics – including laser eyes, pirate hats, and horror faces – to your selfies and even selfie videos. According to Sony, "Portrait Retouch is another innovative app that allows you to have a real-time makeover of up to two people from a combination of choices from 10 different beauty styles, 10 DECO frame options and magic beam for 6 eye reflection pattern changes. All these features allow you to elevate your images to a new level, to impress your friends via your favorite social media channels."
Apart from the stellar front cam and LTE connectivity support, other key technical specifications of this release include the 5.5-inch HD IPS Triluminos display, 8 MegaPixel camera at the back with LED flash and Exmor RS sensor, Full HD video recorder with SteadyShot feature, Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system skinned by Sony's Xperia UI, Quad Core 1.2 GHz ARM Cortex A7 and Adreno 305 based Qualcomm MSM8926 Snapdragon 400 SoC, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of expandable storage, and a 2,500 mAh battery pack with Stamina Mode 3.0 boost that "recognizes when you’re not using your display and automatically turning off the functions you don’t need, while keeping the notifications you want."
Is the right smartphone for you? It's not the most powerful device out there in terms of specifications and it also doesn't have the clearest display -- but if you love taking selfies (like I do) and you want an LTE-enabled device with large screen plus decent battery life and you're cool with not enjoying the benefits of beastly innards, I would say Sony Xperia C3 could be perfect your perfect companion.
So when will be out in Pinas? My anonymous insider from the company informed me that Sony Xperia C3 is slated to be released in the Philippines within the second week of September 2014. No word yet on the final SRP but I'm guessing that it should be near the price tag of the handset in India, which is around 20,000 Rupees or Php 14,500 to Php 15,000 with current conversion and before taxes.
