Crumpler Philippines Outpost Project Bags : Great for Gadget Lovers and Adventurers
I just want to show you guys the two Crumpler bags that use often when I go out these days. I love both of them because they look attractive, they're durable, and they have foam-lined compartments for gadgets, which is a must-have for me.
My "Kashgar" and "Tondo" bags are part of the Australian bag company's current Outpost Project line. Outpost is described by the company as "a 9 piece collection for adventurers, photographers, riders, designers, makers, thinkers, doers."
This is my cute Kashgar Outpost shoulder bag, which - according to Crumper - 'holds a decent set of camera or video gear close by your side plus an iPad and accessory or six while its combination of military-esque style and NASA-esque material technology ensures all and sundries remain safe, secure and dry at all times.'
Aside from its cute and hip design and the fact that it's made of fine yet tough materials, I like that it's quite spacious inside.
Kashgar has dimensions of 11.02 inches x 11.02 in x 6.69 in. - which is really not that big so it's not a hassle to carry around - but with volume of 7 liters, there's enough space inside for your DSLR and lens kit, a small speaker, and a couple of other small gadgets.
The package contains two "dividers" with velvet lining to help you create partitions within the bag and prevent gadgets from bumping into each other while you're carrying your Kashgar.
Also, as you can see in these photos, the entire internal part of bag is covered with soft, non-abrasive cloth - concealing a thin layer of foam - that should protect your devices against scratches, knocks, and bumps.
Selling for Php 5,800 (~145 $AUD) at Crumpler Stores across the country, the Crumpler Outpost Project Kashgar shoulder bag also features a zipper/clasp combo enclosure for enhanced protection, a 38 millimeter fully adjustable thick strap, a thick and removable shoulder pad with sweat vents, front accessory compartment with dual internal mesh pockets - where you can put your pen, flash drives, and keys, left and right side stuff pockets with velcro closures - where I place my earphones and cables, and reinforced stitching on all stress points.
This is my backpack and light-travel-bag: the Crumpler Tondo Outpost. Just like the Kashgar, it has a water resistant 600D Field Twill outer layer and 150/75D drawstring inner, which protects against the entry of water - to some extent - when you use it outdoors, under the rain.
The Tondo features a sizable 25 liter main compartment with extendable drawstring hood, internal padded sleeve for 11 or 13-inch laptops, dual front pockets where you can put water bottles, phone chargers or earphones, one with "secret" internal key loop side access pocket where I usually put my identifications cards, and a Dual clasp/drawstring combo closure to protect your gadgets and other belongings.
Aside from 'incidentally' bearing the same name as the place where I was born and raised in Manila, I love how I can just conveniently throw everything inside the bag and it's good to go. It's just 'never full' and it's always ready to go on an adventure with me. Very low maintenance! What's there not to love?
Crumper Tondo Outpost Project backpack dons the same SRP as the Kashgar shoulder bag; That's roughly Php 4,800. I know. They're quite expensive. But what you're really paying for here is 'quality'; Quality materials and quality construction.
Also, Crumpler bags are keepers. The Australian company masterfully designs and puts together every release so that they are built well enough serve their owners well for many, many years. In fact, Crumpler is so confident about the quality of their products that every item comes with 'lifetime guarantee'. So yes, you may be paying a premium price for every Crumper bag but you're also assured to get a premium experience from it.
